Clear indicators group buy interest

Brilliant news, though ask you to hold off for one week as I am attempting to contact Hella direct to see, just in case, they might have lying around in some dusty box & be willing to sell those holy grail of clear hockey sticks... though somebody stop me if you've already tried this - I've even been phoning a few places trying to get the contact details of the companies who make the aftermarket lenses... trying the same approach.

Failing this, I confirm I'm still in for £170.

Good idea. I contacted Hella about a year ago, they said that because the parts are licensed to BMW they can't sell the parts on. Shame, but maybe things have changed now.

Andrew.

It took me nearly three years to locate a company who had the capability of producing replacement lenses at a reasonable cost. The main problem is the normal charging structure is to ask for payment up front for the moulds, which would be £1000 for a hockey stick mould, and then charge a compatibly smaller amount per lens. This method does not require a commitment to a quantity. My current supplier will spread the cost of the mould over its life and charges a proportion of the mould cost plus the item cost thus avoiding the upfront payment. He is also prepared to speculate by accepting a quantity below what is actually needed to 'kick start' the process.

He does this following the sales pattern of other items i have had produced eg indicator lenses for early TVRs where the initial order for 10 pairs grew and grew until almost 80 pairs were sold.

This is currently just a hobby of mine being retired I have the time to spend (waste my wife says) however I am hoping to establish a proper business later this year supplying mainly to the classic car movement when the pricing will be more commercial. I am prepared to supply the hockey sticks (as I run a Z4) on the hobby basis ie not generating a profit.

I will take this on from Moflow as long as i can have FIRM commitments for 6 pairs. If you are defiantly interested please send me a PM with your email address and ideally a contact phone number.

Numbers dwindling which is sad. Anyone with a tango'd Z should be all over this.

Norman, if you are taking this forward since I'm out of the actual GB I'm still more than happy to do anything I can to help.

Im definately still in sooner the better as Ive got a pair of lights just waiting to go... PM sent

Well we've reached the dizzy heights of 2 probably three takers, just not enough if your interested please let me know

Good effort Norman

Sadly, same as last time, such a bargain, but nae commitment from forum members

Maybe I was too committed to getting rid of my ginger shame. Clears came up at a price I was prepared to pay so i took the opportunity. Sad for this GB as people like Jembo are really keen and his car would look great with clears (don't all Zs?).

The number of gingered up Zs on here it really is pathetic that we can't drum up 10 or even 6 people willing to part with what is a very reasonable amount of money for this mod.

If you have gingers, go out and take a look at the front of your car. If you can stop dry heaving try imagining it without the ginger eyeliner. Now get your wallet out.

as a slight aside if you can tell me who are you using to do your moulds? my project at the moment needs some moulded parts (~300) to continue into the trials phase next year so im interested in companies that do low volume stuff. Ive been in touch with a company called protomould that will do what i want but would like to find others.

imafraid i dont want to be part of this group buy as i cant justify 170 on 2 bits of plastic that will require me to butcher my existing lights or spend large extra amounts to get a second pair of xenons. Especially as they are not a performance upgrade or a motorsport based part. i can appriciate the cost being higher as you are having to have specific moulds made as i know thats not cheap.

Hey there, i've just become a Z4 owner :) picked up a 3.0i SE for 2k less than the estimated market value, 04 plate 35k miles mint condition. One thing i have noticed are the yellow eye brows on the front... not too keen on them tbh :) So i might be up for this group buy if its still up in a couple of weeks or so. Just a question which lights are these? are they angel eyes and do they come with bulbs? the standard Z4 lights aren't really the best are they..

Cheers

We are only talking about replacement inserts for the amber indicator lights and you'll have two disassemble a pair of headlights and replace the amber hockey sticks with a clear ones

I'm still very much in ! In Greece do limited conections

No point in trying to progress there isn't enough interest despite what people said to start with.

So have wasted my time, again :headbang:

nfarmer, I really feel for you. You've done a great job trying to help the forum members  Shame about the uptake
