Clear indicators group buy interest

Following a discussion in the for sale section where I mentioned this thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35603&hilit=Firm+pricing where a member had sourced a supplier for clear lenses. I decided to contact the OP and ask if this would still be a possibility.

The OP was very helpful and said that it would not be a problem if I could get enough people together for the group buy. There was quite a bit of interest in the for sale thread and since a set of clear lights (which you will probably have to butcher) can now set you back close to £500 I think most of us ginger boys would be daft not to jump on this.

I have not as yet made certain with the OP of the original thread that numbers, delivery time and pricing will still be the same but I can't see it being far off. I would like to get an idea of whether we can make the 10 orders before I ask him to start contacting suppliers as the buy obviously died very quickly the last time.

If you're in, copy, paste and add your name please.

Looks to be £160 for the clear lenses Jembo. Go up to the original post and click on the link to the previous thread. A little bit too much for me at the moment i think. Hardtop, cruise, possibly electric seats all to do first.

Yup, the price in the original thread was £160. At the moment as far as we are aware the price will be the same but this will need to be confirmed as that price was supplied last year when the arse fell out of the first group buy.

I'd say that if you are thinking about doing this mod at any time then this will be the cheapest opportunity that you will ever get. I've been scouring ebay, pistonheads, here and the breakers sites for donor lights for 2 months now and the clears are pretty rare. When they do come up they are usually around £300 EACH unless you are very lucky.

This is a grab the opportunity while you can mod the same as sport seats. Nearly every other mod is a do any time thing.

Can you confirm exactly what it is?
I.e: do I need to chop up my xenons in order to fit!

I'm very interested, I just need to know what's involved.

I just hope everyone on this list knows the in's and out's of the fitting process

Aside from that £160 is reasonable, just prepared to get your hands dirty

Thanks for posting that link Ranski. Everyone does need to be fully aware of how the mod is done before parting with cash.

Peddy. Yes, it's just the lenses and £160 is mega cheap. If you got your clears for less then you were VERY lucky or very early with the mod. As Adamski says they will set you back between £300 - £500 now and the worst part is you have to butcher these very expensive lights and throw about 80% of the parts away.

The cut and shut job will take around a day to complete, around 30-40 mins to cut open each light, and the same again to swap over the hockey sticks. The longest wait is for the sealant to fully cure

i managed to get a pair of clear lights for £150 after getting bargains on 2 single ones, so thats £150 straight away and it meant i had to cut open the lights to get the clear indicators which was effort.

£160 is a good price.

So can you open the lights to change the indicators without damaging them then? I'm very confused (doesn't take a lot)

No, you need to dremel open the lights

But little if no damage is done if you take your time
