The double cheeseburger provides 390 calories, 23 grams of protein – half a daily serving – seven per cent of daily fibre, 19 grams of fat and 20 per cent of daily calcium, all for between $1 and $2, or 65p and £1.30, The Times reported.

Pretty much in complete agreement, +1

Oh agree'd, although not from one burger. I often pick up a double if I'm driving somewhere for work and haven't got a chance to stop for some proper food.

After not having eaten red meat since I was about 12 I started eating it this year..I must say a cheeseburger is now a fave food. I quite like the little McDonalds one, small enough to satisfy a craving without making you feel too disgusting.

must be great quality food at that price though.... the meat is going to cost... hmmm.... at most 50p...

lovely...

Quality beef...

the guy has a point tho. the problem isn't in the burger as such, its just the fact you always eat 2 of them and some chips and a 1/2L of coke....

have a look at some of the stuff you eat its horrendous. i had one of those tesco meal deal things the other day as it was cheaper to buy pasta drink and crisps than it was just the salad and drink. they had no bits of fruit pre cut in a bag with preservative all over (which is horrible why they cant just let you have an apple is beyond me) the crisps i fed to the seaguls as i didnt want them. combined the pasta and drink had 2/3 of my fat and sugars for the day. little else was in it. horrible.

Very true, I have become much more informed by the hidden calories in food lately as joined Weightwatchers about 5 weeks ago. Its a points system and there is an app, its quite amazing how many points any foods with fat have. I get 26 points per day and as an example a standard McDonalds cheeseburger is 8, add in a small strawberry milkshake and thats another 5 (13 for large) then small fries another 6. Total of 19 which nears me to my total daily points intake. Has made me more thoughtful about my eating habits.

I'm a bit anal about calorie intake because as you get a bit older it gets harder to keep the weight off and I like to try and stay (reasonably) in shape although I need to get my arse in gear and shift some blubber right now. So I look at the calories of everything I buy at the supermarket. Not just the absolute calories but how much protein, sugar and saturated fat it contains too.

Some of the crap that people eat amazes me and we wonder why 25% of the population is obese and rising. Some of the worst culprits are the coffee shops. Just look at Costa's calorie guide in their stores. I think you'll be shocked. I regularly see people have these large coffees with a load of cream on top and a slice of cake and I'm sure they have no idea that's a 1,000 calories they've just consumed.
