CD changer not working

One day I switched between the different CD's too quick and the changer did not like it, the screen now says something like "no magazine".

I tried ejecting the magazine and putting it back but still no luck.

Any ideas?

Probably had it, try a tap on front. It may then work for a while but it will probably happen again.

Mine did this. Try wriggling the magazine around whilst pressing the eject button - it will come out eventually. When it does, dismantle it and Mr Sheen all the trays. If you're lucky it will work again.

I had the same scare. Was really concerned about replacing it, but as said a wiggle whilst pushing eject got it out. Hasn't happened since (was about 4 months ago).

Same, sharp tap on the front with your fingertips, slide out all the trays a good clean with a silicone based house polish gets my working fine for months at a time.

I must get round to sorting out an iPod cable set up.

My CD player is doing this "no cd" or "no magazine" error, despite the tray being there.

It ejects etc fine. Hmmm, thinking about it now, perhaps I need to put some CD's in there to see if it even works :D

Pretty sure it just stopped working. Might put in some old CD's, give it a good tap/Mr sheen, and give it a whirl again.

Point of my post, are these failing a common fault, and is the only way forward a new Alpine unit for ~ £200?

Tempted to remove it and not replace it, I've got Aux in fitted and so tempted to make that a bit nicer since most people have iDevice things these days. Might save myself 5kg or so in doing it too :D

IIRC removing the CD changer is a big job, not worth the weight saving IMO.

If you really want to use the changer it might be worth it. If not, I would source an AUX cable and use that with an iPod or similar device

I guess the changer weighs around 3-5kg?

Well, it's not working, and I have the aux cable. Just when I come to sell it, it's a feature that isn't working... I like everything to work.

I've been doing other jobs on the car recently so forgot all about this. I'll give it a good whack at the weekend and see if it wakes up :D

TBH it's no that hard to remove, less than an hour if youv'e never done it before I would say.

You need the tray to put back in it's place though to do a proper job.

So general thoughts are to just not bother replacing it?

I still have CD's and stuff, but 95% of the time use my iPhone via aux in now... hmmmm.

I need to start a blog for my car... I've been doing loads of stuff to it recently. 99% of it has been a joy to work on.

If punching a CD changer can resolve a problem on BMW's, that is blog worthy imo :D

Summer is coming and I finally went to the garage trying to fix the CD changer, but the damn thing wont eject anymore :( Tried almost everything but no luck.. Any fresh tips? I would really like to get it working again
