Cd changer. Again

I know there are lots of threads about issues with 6 cd changer but my question is very specific. The head unit no longer offers the cd changer as an option when pressing the mode switch and the unit itself seems dead as in the eject button does nothing and I don't hear the changer doing anything on key on which I believe I used to. It was working a little while ago.

1) could the car have lost its coding so it knows it has a cd changer? If so how would I check?
2) does the changer itself have an internal fuse? If have pulled fuse 47 48 and 50 to try to reset it but this did nothing.

Edit. Can I see if the head unit thinks it has a cd changer in the head unit service menu? I have the nav radio.

Someone WILL post a response at some point who will have an educated response. They are either watching football, being dragged round shops/ garden centres or working on their cars BUT they will respond :thumbsup:
 
Have you checked Fuse 48 which is the one for the CD changer?
Have you done anything with the audio set up? Specifically, have you added a Bluetooth dongle?
Failing that, has any work been done in the boot, behind the bulkhead carpet?
 
I pulled 47 48 and 50 and replaced them. I will check it again. I assumed that because the nav drive above it had power they used the same source. And no to everything else except bluetooth plugged into aux port under the dash.

Edit rear shocks were replaced a few weeks ago. Can't remember if it worked after that. Does it have a power light?
 
I give up. Disconnected the battery for an hour or so. Reconnected and cd changer powered up. Got the magazine to eject. Put only one know good cd in it, reinserted the magazine, got cd check for about 5 min then it died again. Can't eject and head unit thinks tye changer is not there. To top it off Inow have anti trap errors on both windows and when lowering the roof the windows go half way down and stay there. Strangely raising roof all works properly.

Does this mean window reset dance. I can see the codes in carly and on my foxwell but neither will clear them.

No idea with the cd changer, but yes, you need to reset the windows.
 
I have read several window reset procedures. What is the actual correct one. I can't believe that there are 3 or 4 as I have read. Otherwise I will try them all I guess
 
I had this
There is tip on you tube from USA were he used butt of his gun and placed butt of the gun on the cassette unit and gave it a good push inwards then the cassette unit will eject
Weirdly as I do not posses a gun I used handle of a hammer which worked just as well !
There is another tip on using a flat bladed kitchen knife to release the cd cassette , just search on you tube “ Stuck cd changer unit “
 
Thanks all. I got the windows working again but for now I have given up on the changer. The one in my old Z3 that I have owned since 1998 is still going strong after 26 years but this POS, not so much. Luckily I love the car.
 
OK this is semi resolves. I say semi because I don't know why it works but it does. I purchased a new magazine from bmw. Put I cd in it and it got stuck on checking, would not eject and tye head unit gave up and stopped offering the changer as a mode option. At home I pulled 48 fuse, waited a bit and got it to power up and eject. I then filled the magazine with 6 cds and it's been flawless for the last day. Will report back. It seems my changer is broken in some way that makes it not work with a not full magazine.
