Cat Detterent!

So I've just moved in to a new place, and there seems to be a cat in the cul de sac who enjoys sitting on car bonnets.

Within about 5 minutes of leaving my car, I look out the window and its sitting on it. I only waxed it yesterday!!! and now its got muddy cat paw prints all over it

Any ideas for some kind of humane detterent from my bonnet?

My cats love the roof of my Z4 in the sun... I'm fighting a losing battle with them :roll:

You could get a bigger cat...

I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of anti-cat spray I could put on the bonnet or under it, if its some kind of smell thing??

Don't know if this helps, but cats aren't too keen or the smell of oranges... don't ask!

Star fish. Years ago before old age got the better my grandad was a keen gardener and had very fine soil, as a result the cats used to love crapping in his garden much to his delight. As he lives by the coast he used to get the star fish from the beach and dot them round the garden. Not very good for the star fish but he swore the smell kept the cats away. (I'll not mention the catapult! ) :telloff:

Maybe I'll head down to billingsgate fish market in the morning, and see if they stock star fish.

If so there may be some rubbing of oranges on them and duck taping to somewhere strategic in the engine bay..... suggestions for location?

(this could be the wierdest thing I've ever done though....)

Hehehe - wait until it discovers how much fun sleeping on the roof can be, it forms like a hammock inbetween the roof supports. Furry roof :lol:

And TBH I tried to deter my own cats from sleeping on the roof, and after a while nothing works, they become immune to it.

Having the exact same problem, paw prints on my bonnet and roof daily......once tried to shift it and it just sat there looking at me as if to say "sod off this is my lounge"....I've just give up :roll:

This has been discussed before and someone mentioned chilli powder.. gets on their paws and gives them a shock... just not 100% sure it wouldn't stain the car. Bloody cats, no idea why anyone would have one! Caught one pissing on my car the other week but fortunately I had the garden hose in my hand at the time and got the little blighter right on the head!!!!

I've always wanted to run a slight electric current through the body of the car. Well ok, it wouldn't be a slight current as I'd want it to deter shitty neighbors from parking there posteriors on my hood.

When I leave the car out of the garage overnight I always put a car cover over it. Too many scratches from the local cats on cars in the past and they do love the roof!

The reason the cat sits on your bonnet is because its warm. You might find that once its cooled down it will move off to another car. I had the same problem which was a PITA until my new neighbour started getting back from work five minutes after me........ the bloody cat waited for her to get back and ignored me which made me feel a bit inferior (probably something to do with the fact she drove an Aston). Try driving less furiously on your way home and the bonnet might not get so hot

I know this feeling, have given up with mine, just have to keep getting out the pet roller

Yep, thats the problem!

One used to do this at my old office carpark. Between 8am-10am you saw the little blighter run to the next hottest car about 15 times. I only drove about 3miles in a diesel though; so eventually it didn't bother with mine at all :lol:

When you get back put a super soaker on standby with some quick detailer and an MF Cloth. After a few days of 'hunting' it'll probably get the picture. The one who used to go for my VX's roof did! :wink:
