Cat Detterent!

My cat likes to sit on mine when the bonnet is warm when i get home from work. I've caught him on my Mum's and Dad's a few times when they've just got home too. He's never scratched it so i just leave him to it. He get's off it when it's no longer warm.

I'm not liking these nasty suggestions of hoesepipes and air rifles. That makes me want to do the same thing to you

I used to find if you lock/unlock the car remotely whilst he's sat there, he'll get scared and run off.

do it a few times and he'll think that spot is tainted and never go back.

if that fails, try dropping the roof with him sat on it :)

Lion manure.... apparently it works , cat smells poo from enormous cat and buggers off.... I have been suggesting this for a couple of years but no one has reported back yet :P

My worst problem is when I leave the roof down on the drive, my cat keeps jumping into my seat, and sits there while the alarm goes off, till I go and lift him out :D

My neighbours cat always sits on my bonnet during the winter while he waits for her to come home and sits on the bloody roof in the summer, I've given up trying now. The worst thing is she has a TT roadster and he never sits on her car when its there always mine, luckily my new cat has taken to her roof so I don't feel so bad

Do you paintball?

One of mine loves my the Z4 best, the other will not go near any car, though he does like to sleep under it when it warm. They all seem to avoid the 350z and the TT, think the Z has the best bonnet /hood for sleeping on.

The best way is get a water pistol, but do not do it when it is on the car, if you scare it, out come the claws and it wheel spins off the bonnet, not good. :( If you see it prowling after you get home wait until he saunters over and give it a quick blast, ideally near it, not a direct hit, when it gets too near, they are quite intelligent creatures, so after a few times they will start to steer clear. A bit of water never hurt them, however i agree with Lucy anything more then that’s not nice.

I am lucky nearly all of our street has cats, so we are all use to it. I rarely chase mine away as I would rather he sat on mine than damaged a neighbours car. Wish the people with kids in our street where as responsible, throwing sticks and balls at the conker tree near my car, perhaps I should use a water pistol on them.

I've found that there's no sure way to keep the cats off of the cars :headbang: , so I have a couple of old blankets that I throw over them when they're parked. Not the most asthetically pleasing solution, but It keeps them from walking all over the paint with muddy paws.

Good luck,
Bill

Next door's Cooking Fat has taken to sleeping on my roof when the car is under our carport and not in the garage and it seems that it is permanently molting. I am surprised it has any fur left! If I remember, I drape an old quilt cover over the roof and windows. Still get the paw prints on the bonnet and boot though!

We use some scented pellets in the garden purchased from Garden Centre to stop them crapping in the borders which seem to work. I haven't tried but it might be worth putting some in a small plasic bowl somewhere on the car.

I have also got one of those megga water pistols but have never managed to catch the cat only find the evidence..............

I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of anti-cat spray I could put on the bonnet or under it, if its some kind of smell thing??

yeah, there is a car repelant spray... ask at your local pet store :D I use it on the sofa to keep them off

Get some catnip spray - they hate that! ;)

Ive given up trying, but dont have any scratches.

neighbours cat loves the roof - i just have to get the hoover out occasionally to remove the hair :D

unearth your car and attach a some electricity to the bonnet! im sure they will leave the paintwork alone! :driving:

You only have to sit stationary with it running for a while to see the heat rising from the bonnet, lovely, reminds me of a formula 1 car.

I probably would have the same problem with cats as there are a whole host of the beggers around here but mine is always safely locked away to save the yoofs from vandalising it.

Those cat scarer things are ok as long as it isnt an old cat which is a bit mutton, I have 1 air pistol and one air rifle if anyone is interested? although I wouldnt reccomend such activities as they could result in life imprisonment, even worse than shooting your cat loving neighbour in the face for that you'd probably get 6 months and a fine.

On the other hand I've heard vinegar is good as long as you dont mind driving around smelling like a chip shop, although in hugh's case that probably wont make much difference.

Its bloody unfair. If the neighbour wants a cat let him/her keep at his/house not on my car. My car is my pet. So i could potentially complain and get compensation from my neighbour. i've tried pepper sprays in the front of my house so it could stops shitting. I've heard that water gun with washing powder solution is better. it keeps them away. but hard to find the buggers red handed.
