I took the seats out first then removed the center rear cuby just remove the two screws below the door and the two large ones under the cover at the top it all unclips without to much drama . once this is removed the console comes out by removing the two knee pads I put a screw driver on the lower side of the pad and prised them off then removed the screw covers it all just slides out
the console took me about 2 hours in total to remove put the wrap on and replace and while the seats where out give the the car a good vac , I took the car out for a run and and to show a couple of mates they cant belive the finish one said it looks like it left the showroom with that dash , I have no rattles only problem I have is I keep looking down at my new dash as I am driving I hope to stop doing this as I dont want to put the car through the hedge

You took the seat out :o , no need to do that to remove the centre console.

4 bolts unplug the harness and seat belts 10 min's each makes it so easy to get the rest out and you can give the car a good clean at the same time

Great job.

So which fabric did you buy in the end because it does look very much like the same satin type finish as the OEM carbon fibre fabric!

I'm very tempted as my handles have seen better days, and my ally parts have too, and the finish you have achieved is very nice :D

I have asked for a couple of samples of the material to be sent to me from one of the suppliers from the 3m uk site linked to earlier. They have the light pewter one and the same one used by phil here. I'm hoping the light alu one is a similar shade to the silver I have already in which case I'll order some. Perhaps we ought to be thinking about group buy?

just found this place - http://www.carbonfibrewrap.com/buyonline.html slightly cheaper by a few quid than on ebay, tempted to just take the plunge

nice video on doing a wrap on a trim piece, click on green video button http://www.carbonfibrewrap.com/carbonwrapquestions.html

My sister in law works for 3M she said once that she can get staff discount I will ring her and ask about the Di Noc film if there is enough interest we may be able to buy a full roll, I will make the call and see if that will be possible

I just bought a 600x1220 from the website linked above so will have to see what it looks like.

Not sure if I actually want to do the dash because I actually quite like brushed ally, but will probably do my door handles first to see how it goes. My problem is if I do the dash, I need to do the centre bit too, then I'd want the darker facelift plastics around the gearstick and stuff, the darker radio etc :D

Could end up doing the chrome on the steering wheel too :D

Chrome/brushed ally >> carbon fibre wrap hehe :)

That looks great works really well against the cream interior   have you thought about changing the grey plastic parts to black that would look nice

Looks like carbonfibrewrap.com only stock the dark CF shade though. William Smith have the lighter shade too. Both at £29.99/m, though perhaps they will price match the quantity.

I did think about doing the grey plastics but that matches the radio so I think I have done enough

Glad I'm not selling my Z4 now as I think I would have trouble selling on the OEM CFL dash I have with this uptake of CF vinyl

True you would then have to replace radio the cost keeps going up :(

Does this stuff come of easy enough?

Im tempted but wouldn't mind an option to change it if i didn't like it.

Years ago as part of my day job I used to install vinyls. They will come off with a heat gun/hardier but they still need some effort!!

They wrap whole vehicles now so I doubt whether normal sun heat would effect them if installed correctly.

Just done my dash strip with the carbon film. Looks good :) .

Just wondering if im brave enough to get the center console out now :D

Srhutch, do you have the rest of the pictures to that italian guide? Just looking at it and im not sure of a few things, does the gear shift need to come of?
