“Anything else is not really acceptable so if you have an accident and cannot prove your journey was essential your insurance may be void.”

Most ridiculous statement I’ve ever heard!

Well my Z4 is on SORN so I’ll let you take yours out to test if it is a ridiculous statement or not. 😉

I thought it might encourage some debate
For now I am busying myself in cleaning & polishing them ( fortunately have a pair of Zs to meddle with at the moment  )
I will most likely roll 2-3 tasks into 1 outing when I do go out , shopping, supplies to parents & a long way home drive across the moors :driving:
our moral compasses should guide us.we all have nice vehicles , cars and bike etc , if you flaunt the advice by finding ways to get around the rules then we are being extremely selfish and a bit narcacistic really. If you have a concience then I suspect you wouldnt even enjoy the drive as you would be looking over your shoulder or worrying what people are thinking.I have the M , a harley, aconvertible beetle and a beach buggy but if I do go to the food shop then I take the wifes 2007 as I would feel I was joyriding in any of the other vehicles. Imagine how you would feel if someone showed their contempt of our behaviour by keying our pride and joy.😖 I decided to get the toys out , clean fettle and polish them in the garden therefore getting the enjoyment of them without the guilt of driving them.. I appreciate that a certain car maybe someone’s sole vehicle and that you have to get a food shop, thats fine and no problem and if you take a slightly longer route home then hey thats probably fine too, just do as most do and be guided by your own compass. Even though all those empty roads are extremely inviting 👍

my post was a general one mr wilks, not aimed at any one , just that I clickd quote on your post , i had read yours and noted that you ,were like many, tinkering at home instead of driving, which is probably why I quoted on yours so as not to cause offence to anyone , certainly I didnt think to look at the date but it wasnt relevant anyway as I wasnt having a dig at anyone, just stating that even people who did go for sneaky blast probably wouldnt enjoy it much anyway, definately not being self righteous ,just doing the right thing for the common good. 👍😁

 as i said last night on a similar thread , its all getting a little "Lord of the Flies" on the forum just lately & can be hard navigating the undercurrent of some comments .

I went out for a walk around the local RoWs my daughter yesterday. It's been fun enjoying some new foot paths that we may other wise have never walked, as the area is destined to become a housing estate soon. On a normal day we could never have walked that route. It crosses the A 38 and the main road to Callington, both of which are nomally very busy with traffic. Not yesterday, vertualy deserted. On the way back though we did notice a white R34 Nissan Skyline just cruiseing along, he passed us twice, so obviously up and back to the local round about. Only doing 30mph but clearly not going anywhere really just warming the engine threw. Is that wrong in these times? I will leave that to others to debate. But it brought a smile to my race just to hear straight six out and about. :)

"self righteous " :? if you are going to quote me at least get it right , that's not what i said & i've hardly been "vocal" compared to some(yourself included) i don't think ive posted more than 3 times across any CV threads but feel free to dig them up if i've got under your skin
Yes i posted this original topic but that was the Wednesday AM after the Monday nights announcement changing the rules on movement & just to remind you it was posted as a a topic to ponder & discuss because at that point there was little detail to define what we could / couldn't do .
Just to keep you up to date on my position as its clearly something you feel you need to be on top of , i'm a sole trader sub contractor , i could work , i have work to do that i left suspended after the announcement , that is there to re-start as & when .
Additionally on Wednesday this week i was offered a job to start in student accommodation tomorrow for 3-4 weeks in Manchester city centre at rates i haven't seen since pre 2007 , i turned it down .
Neither of my Zs have moved , 1 is still taxed , MOTd & insured , my daily driver hasn't moved either & other than walking the dogs in local woods / greeN areas i haven't left the house for over 10 days so pop your slippers back on & stop getting sand in your fanny when you haven't got all the info .
