Alex Salmond was never supposed to be a MSP as he was elected a MP and Nicola Sturgeon was always to be the leader of the SNP in Scotland and then the real chance came that they could possibly run Scotland and Alex Salmond back tracked and became leader of the SNP without contest and they did it.
I can understand why he feels that he has to go but honestly I don't think he should. Think Ms Sturgeon will be at the helm and if so three parties will all have female leaders in Scotland. How bizarre is that?

John Swinney already had a shot and he was ousted, possibly Kenny MacKaskill but again not sure. People still haven't forgiven him for the Lockerbie Bomber release and we know how people hate to bring up the past when it comes to politics.

Makes a change, as some of these have been dragged into a slagging match and it shows once again just how great the folks and this forum is 
Well the brown stuff has hit the fan in Glasgow.
People supporting the NO vote have started rioting against the Yes camp who had congregated in George Square.
There has been waving of union jacks (not a problem) and singing Rule Brittania (also not a problem)
But there is also No Surrender being sung and Nazi salutes and Saltires being burnt by people wearing Rangers tops.
This is not right.
I dont believe that any Scottish person would burn the Saltire and give Nazi salutes.
At the end of the day the No voters got their way so why cause this trouble?
What would it have been like if the vote went the other way?
I know that not all No voters behave like this and it is obviously a minority but I have a feeling that these people are not even from Glasgow and are just here to cause trouble, a bit like the football casuals that go to matches for a fight instead of the football.

Sounds like a bunch of sectarian idiots to me, as you mentioned Rangers football tops. Good old fashioned Glasgow!
The only time in my adult life I was ever asked what my religion was, outwith an official arena, was when I was 19. I had just joined the R.A.F. and this Scotsman on my course from Glasgow asked me. I was taken aback and asked him if it mattered one way or another? He was pretty persistent, in the end I had to tell him to go forth and mutiply. Dickhead.

Don't think there is a lot of appetite for independence, more an appetite for fairness that one part of the country does not have to pay for the free stuff of another part.
