I hope for Scotland's sake they reject it!
It seems to me that it's just a jingoistic rant of a simple but dangerous man who seeks ultimate power in HIS country!

What is the head of state to be called if the yes vote is carried ? - or is that something else that hasn't been thought through yet?

The above site has some very useful information. Supposedly oil reserves have been massively overestimated by Salmond and potentially only 15 years left before the industry begins to "wind up".

Economically, a yes would appear to be a disaster for Scotland, and it has been mentioned that with the currency and tax issues as well as the unlikelihood of an early entry into the EU, how likely is it that Scotland will actually have any more control anyway.
 
Hmm. I just think there's something a bit fishy about Salmond and Sturgeon. Trust has been mentioned on this thread, how can you trust Salmond? He said he had a letter from Europe saying that an Independent Scotland wil remain a member of the EU. A blatant lie when he refused a Frredom of Information request to reveal it.

Those who think that the economy and defence should not be the central focus have their heads in the sand. When even Scottish financial institutions say they will relocate to England, the electorate needs to sit up and take notice.

As for defence, if you have ever studied military history, you will know that no war has ever been predicted. They appear out of left field. Crackpot regimes like Pakistan and Iran are Nuclear powers and Scotland want to get rid of my nuclear umbrella?

Of course Scotland want to get rid of Trident, they will be getting the benefit of it without paying for it.

Salmond wants a fairer more just society. What the heck do we have to moan about in Scotland? It would have cost me £45,000 extra to send my daughter to university in England, we have free prescriptions up here - a cynical SNP vote sweetner, theres no money to cure cancer but who cares, more 'Voters' need prescriptions than die of cancer.

I just wish that those 'patriotic' celebrity Scots who would never move back to Scotland would just butt out, Yes, Im talking to you Sir Sean.

Scotland should be progressive, not regressing back to the medieval Braveheart mentality.

I read an article yesterday comparing the referendum to a minty python sketch "what have the Romans ever done for us"....made me giggle.

Apparently if the Yes vote wins the Trident subs will be moved to the US for up to 10 years whilst an alternative Uk base is prepared. The powers that be are not prepared to leave Trident in charge of a non-NATO state. Would cost Scotland thousands of jobs.

If the Yes party win, it may cost the man on the street more when big business re-asses the charges for services and goods but at least they can say they live in Scotland and they are Scottish :)
 
I live in England - can I not be Scottish if the Yes campaign win ? Damn.
 
We can have normal times then and align to Europe as we no longer have to hear them moan about dark mornings :D

It's looking far too close for comfort right now - watching Stewart Hosie coming across like a pompous, condescending fool with no factual content, or demonstrable understanding of the real issues - almost bullying Kirsty Wark with his "we will use the pound" nonsense, whereas every real economic commentator has said otherwise - SNP style is simply to ignore it ! - hopefully the electorate will see through the incredibly shallow responses and lack of detail.

Sadly Scotland has already too many jobs in the public sector ( many of those jobs are of course needed but regardless of how you look at - these people are a net financial cost to the country). So little has been mentioned of stockmarkets and the route to global finance via the bond market where Scotland would struggle to borrow competitively. The entire area of regulation of all types of sectors will further increase public sector costs.

We seem to be ignoring the issue that most countries would pay handsomely to have one of the most stable and profitable global financial centres as part of their country (i.e. London) and the stability that gives the UK. instead we're led by the media simply to abhor bankers' bonuses and view the City as a Casino.

i saw a thing youtube that made me think that within 50 years the world we will all be an Islamic state, so maybe this is all irrelvant :?

No, we're British through-and-through, except, possibly, the Scots, and we're not going to lose our world-standard Greenwich Mean Time just to keep Johnny Foreigner happy - it's probably just another French plot anyway and the time-change thing is just the tip of the iceberg, next thing you know they'll want us wearing berets, eating runny cheeses and going on holiday for the whole of August...
