Nobody think of any positives then?

As mentioned before though, what exactly will be the difference?
The one main difference is that all monies raised in Scotland will stay in Scotland.
For years Scotland has been told that the rest of the UK subsidises it when its just not true.
We only get 70p in the pound back to be spent in Scotland.
When you look at it that way who is subsidising who?

Those figures are not correct I think you may find. Scotland is a major net receiver of funds, unless you skew the ownership of assets and income that do not belong to Scotland in the first place.

BBC source::

On this basis, Scotland 'got' £16.5bn more in UK public spending in 2009-10 than it contributed to total UK revenues - or a 'subsidy' of around £3,150 per head.

Yep - if Scotland becomes an independent country and is not, at least at the start, a member of the EU, there's going to be an awful lot of duty-free Scotch available

Man where do I start with this?

Firstly I can only answer from my own point of view - everyone has their own that's what makes life interesting!

What difference does self determination make and what would be different from now? Well just like other parts of UK there is a different culture in Scotland - one of the things I have noticed most since moving away - different - not better - not worse - just different so we would have a different approach to Defence, Health Service, what was important to us enough to spend money on or commit to, and we would make these decisions ourselves for better for worse. Scotland has a very inclusive very socially aware culture, it's government would reflect this.

Alex Salmond - in case it isn't obvious Salmond is a stalking horse . a means to an end! Scotland is predominantly socialist labour landscape, with independence existing labour MPs would be washed away with more open minded tuned in replacements with the apron strings cut from Labour HQ in London Scotland would elect a Scottish labour government - no doubt about this whatsoever.

Feeling robustly British ? - well I feel British too - but not as much as others obviously - perhaps if I felt my "Britishness" was being determined from a predominantly Scottish parliament based in Edinburgh then I would feel very very British. So I understand why you are linked in here - your Britishness is being looked after from a predominantly English based parliament in Westminster - no surprises here then.

Why don't you get a vote - ask and campaign for it - that's why Scotland is having this vote - a lot of people have been asking for a very long time.

All the jibes about when it doesn't work don't come back, renegotiate terms of re-entry - sounds like you can't wait to get rid - but he who never strikes out or tries anything different never makes any mistakes - I make mistakes all of the time but I learn a lot - and so would an independant Scotland - what a great journey that would be!

All the recent media about this bank and that bank pulling out of an independent Scotland - banks long ago lost their named identity - Royal Bank Of Scotland? Nothing Scottish about it - business will go where the concessions mean their cost base is cheapest and if they can afford it - where the status of the location means better profile - so if you bank with RBS there will be more costs to you to fund their planned move - wonder what the stakeholders would have to say about this plan!

Yes I am a romantic and tbh I'm making the best of my romantic ideas between now and 18th Sept - because unfortunately If I'm being honest I don't think there will be a yes vote - but it's good to dream, people can't take that away from you - :D

In 2012-13, Scotland’s estimated net fiscal balance was a deficit of £17.6 billion (14.0% of GDP) when excluding North Sea revenue, a deficit of £17.1 billion (13.3% of GDP) when including a per capita share of North Sea revenue or a deficit of £12.1 billion (8.3% of GDP) when a geographical share of North Sea revenue is included.

Not the ravings of a rabid Westminster toff - This is from the Scottish Gov website - http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2014/03/7888 (Alex Salmond to you and me)

The 70p back stuff is because Scots (like the rest of the UK) have to pay for centralised government (you know things like the Interest on debt, DVLA, Passport office, embassies, etc etc etc)

The 30p you are missing if you were to get it back would simply go to Alex Salmond (or whoever) in Edinburgh.

For a long time now Scottish MPs sitting in Westminster have been influencing things that happened in England
Ie recently Brown, Darling all the way back to Keir Hardie!

So what's suddenly so wrong?

I ask that as a genuine question not wishing to stir any emotions whatsoever!
(My forebears were I believe from north of the border)

The thing is now the devolution cat is out the bag it's just a question of when and not if the UK will be broken up. I can't help thinking England will be a far, far better place. Scotland is a land of socialism, tax and spend (Darling & Brown for example) and public sector employment.

Aside from Scotland being a net receiver of tax, Scottish residents receive more tax per head too - so as soon as a Yes vote is passed, suddenly Scotland is in deficit and everyone loses all of the benefits they're being promised will improve and expand.

My main concern is SNP are peddling bullshit and has somehow convinced people he's different to the Westminster club.. he isn't.

Seems to me that the 'yes" voters are letting the heart rule over the head. Nice patriotic move regardless of the consequences.

As for England, maybe a temporary blip followed by better times.

Not sure if this is true or not but apparently if its a no vote there cannot be another referendum for 50 years. If thats true for most people it is now or never.
None of the media can be trusted as they are extremely biased towards the better together campaign, not saying you can trust everything the yes campaign says.
On a debate last night the better together crowd had George Galloway representing them, now theres a guy to trust.

Yeah - The Yes campaign have Had Brian Souter on side since day one - you know - the one who hates homosexuals amongst other things !

Someone should get Salmond & Souter together and ask a tricky question about homosexuals in the brave new world !

Something like "Will an independent Scotland continue to support gay marriage ?"

Be worth it just to see their faces :)

Here's one of Souter's business practices;

"Following the deregulation of bus services in the United Kingdom, Stagecoach bought a number of the new small bus companies and ran free or low fare buses to put local rivals out of business.[6] In Darlington, Stagecoach subsidiary Busways offered bounties to recruit drivers from the existing bus service and offered free buses to deter the rival preferred bidder from taking over that service. This practice was deemed as "predatory, deplorable and against the public interest" according to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.[9][10]"

And you don't trust Galloway - He might be a knobend but he's not a money grabbing w***er !

Nictrix - not another referendum for 50 years? sounds like poor low level scaremongery to me. Parliament can call another referendum whenever it likes.. next year if you want.

Imagine how bits of propaganda like that would affect unsure voters if stupid rumours of that kind spread. Thats why this whole thing is a mess - people arent informed, primarily because nothing has been discussed or planned to be informed about! If i was voting for separation in England i'd want to know answers to all the big questions, with guarantees, i'd definitely not trust whoever was leading the charge's word for it..

You can register it I can see.

Domain name: £20 for 3 years
Special Tax levy: £400 per year

I cannot see how this will achieve independence for Scotland if they are ultimately a puppet to whoever will lend them credit to do all these life improving promises (just put it on the credit card eh... that worked out so well last time for all).

Talk of corporations moving operations south of the border should independence occur seems to be troubling Mr Salmond who has attacked the BBC for unfortunately sharing this information.

On an economic level I cannot see how this will improve or even maintain the quality of Scottish life.
