Build Thread: ///M Coupe Z3 Breadvan

BMSport booked in amd ready for some TLC.

Havent had the chance to drive her recently so thought I'd post another picture to get my fix. Seeing as I'm now excluded from all calendar competitions.

BMSport? As in Bexleyheath Inks?

Looks awesome in the picture, really awesome.

Cheers RJS

Thats the one. Not used them before but they look like they know their ///M tech.

Errrr... I was going to ask why you're using them...

For something like that, fine, but for anything else I'd avoid them.

I had a very bad experience and very bad customer service from them a while back, stubborn prat wouldn't even admit he was wrong.

I took the car in because of a weird knock from the back, he said it was a rear bearing, so he replaced that, the noise was still there, so he said it could only be the diff. He dropped the diff and I'd sourced another, he was supplying new oil an seals.

Then, whilst my diff was off, one of his mecahnics noticed that the split rim bolts had worked loose on one wheel post refurb.

When I went in, I explained I'd have no problem paying for the part cost on the bearing, but didn't want to pay for the labour (it's quite a lot of labour to do a rear bearing on a zed), as it was a misdiagnosis and there was no problem with it. I was also happy to pay for the diff oil and seal because it's nice to have that done anyway. He wouldn't have any of it, and claimed the bearing was "making the noise too". I ended up having to pay up as I needed the car for work, but I did call him some choice names as I left.

Really? When was this? Know they've had mixed reviews. Usually go to ETA in Kent but couldn't get through to them. You reckon I should give BMSport a miss then?

Really.

This was last year I believe, and how funny, in the link above someone had almost the exact same experience. Never seen that before but it did make me chuckle.

Personally mate, I'd avoid them if you can, I've also only ever seen good things from ETA, I only used BMsport as I was mental at work, and it was close enough to pretty much walk home that evening. The guy thoroughly took the piss if you ask me, it seems very much like rather than spend any time diagnosing things, or looking into them properly, they just go full steam ahead, and when they're wrong about what it was, they just expect you to foot the bill anyway.

If I didn't need the car back so badly, (he made it clear I wouldn't be getting back without settling up) I'd have taken him to small claims court and won quite badly. Essentially it cost me near enough £700 there to fix a fault that was some loose split rim bolts. I even tried to get a discounted labour rate as I appreciated he'd done the work, it just wasn't necessary, still no dice.

Oh and to add to that, their GEO is hilariously expensive and they don't seem overly competent at it.

When I said I could take it to BMW for the same price all I got was "take it down there then".

Changed my plans and managed to get through to ETA for a quote. Know them well as this will be my 3rd ///M with them, so they will do a top job

So much for trying new things

Yeah, I hear you loud and clear. Screw wider nets or new things. I'm going old school and sticking with what I know. F*ck adventure when it comes to my lady ///P

Latest update on parts.

Returned from holiday in Italy yesterday to find these waiting for me.

Replacement sound insulation foam for boot as the current one flakes away on contact with anything! Also a new throttle cable to see if that helps transform the pedal. Reckon it's also the original in there.

Working on a time to get ///Poppy over to ETA in next few weeks for ARBs, Insp 2 and a few other little jobs.

Frack me Inkey$, not even washed mine yet... though I have bought some winter wheels & a key ring

Mine's a little bit older than your new girl Jem. Needs a little anti-ageing work

Build update: New Constant Pressure Valve ordered through Sopers (always impressed by their service) just in case minor oil leak shows this as the culprit when up on the ramps at ETA.

Also got the price of a new master key which I need to do via my local Stephen James with photo ID and V5. A not unreasonable £140.63 incl vat.

New drop links delivered today also in prep for the H&R Anti Roll Bars and Gliptone leather kit/Osram NightHawk HD headlight bulbs en route from Amazon :)
