Brighter Headlights - Update

my HIDs are 6000K, yours look a little bluer than mine Stark so maybe they are more like 8000K ?
 
Yes Marlon the 306 bhp, auto. Great car, very solid but not as good as my previous 35i on some levels.

Thinking of trading mine in soon for a Z4C 3.0 as there is a new SLK out soon which will knock my value I think
 
Went for the Osram Nightbreaker + raise the lights 2 turns approach here. Enough to make them not "dangerous" and more than adequate for nighttime cruising. Even passengers would notice how bad it was with the OEM setup.

Comparing back-to-back with Xenons now - it's a significant improvement again, but not a dealbreaker for a roadster used mainly at weekends.

Mate tempted in getting a quad exhaust like yours. I'll call the same place as you. Did they replace both pairs or just add one? I might need your help with valance etc
 
I'm sure I posted these before. 5000k hid's when I had them on my Z4. Very bright white light, perfect if you don't want any hint of blue. Never got flashed once, but I removed them because they kept flickering on start-up when I had the auto setting on the lights activated.

Where is the screw that raises the lights ?

Open the bonnet and look vertically downwards at the headlight units.

I was lucky enough to have a helpful MOT tester who set my lights to be legal with the thumbwheel set at its' lowest setting.
Straight after MOT, wind the lights back up from inside the car!

hi mate, EMP Performance are who i used http://www.empperformance.com there work is top notch and several people off here will vouch for that!
they removed my old backbox and then i chose which tip style i wanted and then they made it all up from scratch (1 back box with the 2nd side plumbed in from back box) and i took a train into London for the day and returned later that afternoon. sounds amazing considering its "only" the 2.0 engine would highly recommend. cost me £550.
as for the rear valance, i got a 2nd hand //M rear bumper off ebay for £130 which needed a small repair and i got the rear bumper repaired, primed and sprayed at the same time i got my Aero skirts done all for £420 so a rough guess would be to say about £200-£250 was for the bumper repair and spraying.... so bumper £130 and spraying about £200 = £330 for rear bumper (i sourced PDC sensors aswell seperately at a cost of about £50 all in but there not necessarily needed if you dont want them) i also fitted it myself which is really easy so try and do it yourself to save money, guides on here make it so simple with step by step guides u cant go wrong.

mine take a second to "warm up" but no flickering what so ever (there always on the auto setting) maybe u had a faulty set?
 
That's very odd then. You both have auto headlights?

I fancy buying another set from a reputable company (the set i bought was from an eBay seller) so hopefully they'll be fine. Just need to find somewhere that does 5000k.
 
Did you have a HIDs Direct set last time? I found 5000 K a little tiring on long drives, 4300 K suits me fine.

Normal H7s are 55W - so if you opt for 35W HIDs then yes as the draw is less.
 
i have a spare set of mine (identical) you can have them for £50?

ordered 2 sets as they stated out of stock on 1st order and ended up with 2 sets
 
Turned the vertical adjuster several 'anti-clockwise' turns until I noticed a significant increase in the height of the beam. That alone made a difference on the back country roads last night. I have ordered Osram Nightbreakers off Amazon (14.99 for a pair). Will fit them on Sunday all being well and report back.
 
Another thing that can make a big difference is if the headlights have started to go cloudy/milky. Cleaning/sanding/polishing these up if they have can also help with the lighting and certainly improves the aesthetics of your car

I initially used a meguires kit they sell in halfords and to be honest I didnt think it was great. I then used sandpaper, my buffer and G3 etc.
However the 3M kit (used in the thread above) does seem to be well regarded
If you never don't it before sanding does scare the hell out of you and you think you have ruined your light, but it really does work and after the various stages comes up trumps, mine look like new now!
