Significantly less than half the fitted price I was quoted for the ESS stage II kit for an ///M
The stage II kit is quite a step up though :P

Looks like the 'entry level' kit is about £6.5k+fitting (£900) - and about another £k for each stage/50hp after that.

I keep considering the basic kit, then talking myself up to the full-fat kit, and then realise that I can't fully utilise the 340bhp I've got now, so what's the point. Even at the 'Ring, I'm not driving at 10/10ths, so more power will just mean I'm approaching the corners faster and still being overtaking by the stripped out 700bhp Team Schirmer M3s!

Also bare in mind supercharging a 150,000 mileage engine probably isn’t the best of ideas...

I’m having quite a different problem - I keep talking myself into the stage II kit then my wife spends my supercharger fund on something else :headbang:

It can only go 'BANG' once no matter how many miles are on it :P

...and who's to say mine wouldn't last any longer than a garage queen with a tight engine of only 20,000 miles.

At least mine would lose less value with a busted engine - and probably quite difficult to pick up a replacement 'used' one with more miles on :P

But you're starting to bring up some of the many reasons I've never done it.

Realistically all that's likely to happen at that end of the scale is the engine to drop a valve or put a rod through the block.

Should be delivered in the next 10 days.

May have secured a 2nd hand quaife lsd too.

Another thing I'm debating is the Rieger front bumper. Anyone ever seen one or know what it's like to fit? Just wondering if it needs cutting etc.

I will be watching this with interest as I’m quite keen on doing this myself. Please make sure to share the experience.

I once went down this route with an old car i had..but i went for a turbo...went like a rocket, but would i do it all again?...no...not worth the hassle, late nights, cut hands and thrown spanners....after all the work i could just of bought a faster car and spent time enjoying it...

Still i am interested to see how this turns out so good luck!

Yep I've been here before too. However it's hard to get a rapid roadster for sub 10k with some comforts. Could have got the likes of a lotus, vx220 turbo etc but they are death traps are shite for someone doing 20k a year.

Only other option really was a 4 seater like an s4 or a 335i but they are just big bucks to run and I didn't fancy a bargey convertible or a boxster.

Sure it's going to be painful. But I'm prepared for it to be and made peace with that. Plus I boosted a clio 182.. this should be easy compared to that thing.

Well done buddy I am sure you will love it.

I very often think i maybe should have gone this route. But then I eventually come back to the fact it wasn’t what i wanted. But any S/C kit makes for a great upgrade and a fairly simple trouble free way of getting a good power increase.

I hope the fitting goes simply and well for you. And you fully enjoy it

Would love to do this one day funds allowing will try DLV’s once fitted :D try before you buy :D look forward to your experience with it

I've just been notified that I've got a bonus.

Which is strange as I'm a contractor, and the included link for a breakdown is locked to staff members only, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth :P

It's not enough to fund a supercharger, but will pay for my seats

So a long night of getting the 330 brakes on. Ended up almost in tears getting the carrier bolts off and just stuck the socket in and wolloped it with a club hammer and they came spinning off.

All heat shielding and cosmetic trims underneath and in the engine bay are off to allow for fitment and exhaust removal. Prop shaft coupling will be changed soon. Assuming at the moment the exhaust has been changed in recent years. The nuts on it are probably the cleanest part of the car.

Eyeballing vanos refurb as well.

Sounds like you have plenty of workshop fun ahead of you. I have a pass to play with my car Bank holiday Monday too

Good stuff. Can't wait to see how yours turns out.

Have you given any consideration to damage protection at the rear at all? Just thinking if someone does you up the arse the damage could be very expensive.

I'm hoping my 3 day job will be easy. Day 1 strip the entire front end off.
Day 2 install and commence operation humpty dumpy. Day 3... cross fingers and go on the hunt for an s3 chav.

I will be making a big care around the Turbo at some point. I don’t do many road miles. About 10,000 in 4.5 years. And it is tucked under the car. Not really a lot different than having a SC right at the front. I don’t thing there is much that can be done about it really.

Mine should be done the end of April. I am both scared and excited as its now booked for the ECU.

So... its on and running.

It's / was a lot faster...

Outdone a 17 plate Golf R. Which is what was I aiming for.

It ate the clutch. Just goes into gear and pops back out and stalls now.

Clutch and...unfortunately DMF ordered.

Fun to be had again soon.

Highly recommended to any 2.5 owners and I'm sure 3.0s are pretty ballistic with this kit.

It's not fun to fit and will bring tears of agony followed by joy.

Advice for anyone seriously thinking of doing it.. just strip the front off as much as can be done, all ancillary items the lot.

Once the clutch is in hopefully this weekend will make a video of it up against my friends Golf R 310PS.

Sorry to hear you need a new clutch and DMF, but it sounds like you’ll have quite a best when it’s all sorted :D

This is something I’d love to do to mine sometime in the future. I’m looking forward to the video when the new clutch has been fitted :D

Only thing I can think that may potentially be an issue is the clutch. But you'll soon find that out when it's installed😁

Seems like Mack was right
Looking forward to pics/video when its back up and running  :driving:
