Are you not allowed to speak to sellers telephonically?

I don't believe there's a rule against phone calls. Just pointing out that the rules seem to encourage the idea that the terms of the deal are laid out on forum, and what is being sold is clearly a big part of that.

Phew. It's good to hear that there are no rules about phone calls.

The point I was trying to make was the OP can sell as he pleases (subject to forum rules of course). If he does not wish to engage, then the thread should have been allowed to die and a sale may not have been made via the forum as a result. It doesn't need a range of amateur detectives to pull the advert apart and make assumptions about a vehicle they had never seen or had any intention of buying.

It's not specific to this forum, but many FS ads descend into an absolute poop show, especially where a sensible price is set from the outset (because there has got to be something wrong with the vehicle if it's being priced to sell).

The rules of the forum say discussion should take place on forum so moderators can adjudicate disputes.

Interested to know how this would actually work in the real world.
Realistically the forum/owners/moderators cannot control who buys what .
And once a deal has been done whether it was on gge forum, by pm or phone its not like they can reverse it if someone complains.
Worst that I can see happening us someone gets banned from the forum.

I note also that selling for more than you bought is also against forum rules.

It would appear to me that the rule works on the assumption that the people on the forum are enthusiasts who are invested in the forum and Z4s, and that they accept that if they want to come to the forum/owners/moderators "house" then they have to play by the owner's rules.

In practice it would appear that lots of sellers on here don't care so much, they just want to sell for the top price they can get, end of. They do not buy into the idea that they are morally obliged to follow the rules and offer refunds if the forum owners tell them to.

Not sure what the answer is... it seems the rules are widely broken, but it is also a bit cheeky if people are going to try to dictate how others respond to their listings whilst ignoring the rules of the forum they're posting on!

Of course, whatever the rules are anyone buying on here or anywhere else for that matter needs to have the words "buyer beware" front and centre and take full responsibility for the transaction themselves and not rely on the forum or police or their bank to sort things out for them.

That is every aero sales thread (or CSL wheels)

The OP joined solely to sell his car. In his pomposity and arrogance he expected forum members to play by his rules whilst ignoring forum rules and etiquette. He contributed zero to the forum and got a free advert for his car. Absolutely no loss to the forum that this "member" will no longer visit.

Hopefully the new owner has got themselves a good car and enjoys and contributes to the forum.
