OP is long gone, toys scattered out the pram, as the forum would not play by his rules.

The OP logged in tonight. They are still reading this thread.

A few simple questions should not cause the level of defensiveness that it did. That made me even more suspicious.

I think when you're selling a car you have to display the registration plate. That worms out a lot of poor cars before things progress further. I know cloning is a minor issue, but if someone hides the plate it is usually to conceal a poor history. People on this forum would likely know the car.

I still think that service history looks very suspect. 11 owners, but only 2 owners had the majority of services done at the same high end garage over a long period. Then no receipts to back that up although they kept the earlier receipts.

Also although the pen, signature and handwriting is the same every year, the entry for all the additional work in 2020 is different.

Moderator. Please remove this ad. I have read enough of this pathetic dross. There is nothing suspicious about this car. It's a genuine straight car. With a genuine history.

I will decide how I communicate with any genuine potential buyers. End of story.

There you go again, trying to dictate how the forum runs. Your arrogant attitude and unwillingness to answer simple questions on open forum have done you no favours in finding a buyer.

Must be a con, as he couldn't spell 'sapphire'....and it's actually 'Black Sapphire'.

Well done forum, you chased another out of Dodge!

The car is still for sale on AutoTrader. It has been reduced to £10,500 for everyone now.

I did notice that the OP has deleted posts and links to the car. The seller does sound too desperate to get rid of the car and not being honest.

Don't think there was anything untoward TBH. Just the seller didn't like that the forum wouldn't play to his rules so threw his toys out in protest. Never mind....move on.

Always makes me smile when people post "moderators please remove this thread, as I can't deal with these idiots" kind of thing. The mods (thankfully) never do.
Luckily the mods on here are not over zealous and are Z4 enthusiasts themselves. So many forums have mods who want to 'make their name' by ruling with a rod of iron. This has not been the case on here, certainly since I joined, and presumably long before. I think that is part of the reason why it is still so popular. Self-policing seems to work very well.

I still think the service history is suspect. 11 owners, but only 2 over all those services at the same high end garage. Kept receipts from early services, but not from the high end garage when regular servicing was happening. The writing listing additional work on the 2020 service is a different handwriting and pen.

The car is cheap, but it feels cheap for a reason. It was on Gumtree, here and AutoTrader. It has been on sale for a couple of weeks and nobody has grabbed the bargain yet. Something is putting buyers off.

Jesus, Gumtree, must be desperate. If he didn’t like some of the comments on here he’s going to have fun with the responses on there

It’s a times like this that I wish we had an archive section… we could call it forum gold

God there for a read when you need cheering up

It was Cheap...ish but not the cheapest that has ever been like the OP suggested. I've been reading the thread and feel the car is probably genuinely for sale.

But as a seller, why would you cover up the registration? The first thing prospective buyers would want to do is check the MOT history. It would also help the sell to post answers to questions here to save having to send the same replies over and over again by PM.

The seller was also overly defensive and rude to legitimate questions.

From the photos, the car looks ok. Does the advert even state where the car is located ? If we knew where it was, a forum member could take a look and post their thoughts.

Location as Glenrothes, Fife

Being in Scotland, the car may have had a number of rust advisories on the MOT which may be one of the reasons why the plates might not be shown.

This is what I think

OP bought the car without doing enough homework on what had been done to the car just standard service is not enough at this age and milage.

He found out that the car would need a fair bit doing to it to bring it up to top spec

i.e. Vanos service
rod bearings
diff service
full suspension refresh dampers springs and all bushes

Then the cost of service items brake discs etc

He had a reality check and decided to cut free before any of the above cost big and all of the above are going to be required to be done given the age and mileage sooner or latter

I believe if the above was clear and transparent there would have been a few interested people if you all remember there was a M coupe with a blown or non running engine for £7,000 an engine rebuild by JC Racing is around £7,000 so this was a break even at the time as running M coups where around £14,000 and Mike from the Zed shed bought it so will do most of the work himself

When I bought my Z4MR it had limited service history but it had been well cared for it too was probably one of the cheapest Z4MR's at the time and had been for sale at a garage for a long time. So over 2 winters I have sorted out all of the above and loads more and completed most of the work myself.

The OP said he only bought the car last summer. The car was last serviced in August in Telford where if the service history is correct it has lived for a while.

The car hasn't been used much since the service stamp last year.

The registration plate of the car is EA06 GSU. I'm sure some of the previous 11 owners will be on here.

The MOT in 2020 was done after the service, but the mileage is lower. The services in 2022 and 2023 have the same mileage as the MOT. It doesn't look like the garage does MOT tests.

At least three owners have all used the same garage according to the service book. It's a Ferrari and Lamborghini specialist.

Why are you so obsessed with this car? If you like it phone the guy and have a chat.

If you want to find fault in one try this:

The owner tells me it had light damage a new front bumper, light and wing. The Copart photos tell a different story.
