Why are you so obsessed with this car? If you like it phone the guy and have a chat.

If you want to find fault in one try this:

The owner tells me it had light damage a new front bumper, light and wing. The Copart photos tell a different story.

I'm not obsessed.

I just thought it was odd that someone tried to advertise a car on here and got aggressive at easy questions.

I don't think the history of the car is genuine and posing that on here so anyone can check the validity. It's to be helpful to others potentially buying the car.

As soon as you seen a car is a Cat S you know it's not minor damage.

How do you access the Copart photos without doing a car vertical check or similar?

I can send you the ones of the coupe if you're interested in it. I dont know how to access or search them directly I'm afraid. I did a totalcarcheck when the seller tried to put the CatS down to a simple replacement bumper, light and wing change :!: :x .

I still think the service history is suspect. 11 owners, but only 2 over all those services at the same high end garage. Kept receipts from early services, but not from the high end garage when regular servicing was happening. The writing listing additional work on the 2020 service is a different handwriting and pen.

“Different handwriting and pen….” This cracks me up…. 😂

Normally more than one person can fill out a service book, and not sure about most…..I have used different pens on occasion. 🤪

The car does appear on the garage’s Facebook page having valve clearances done in 2020, which is something I suppose. I suspect the car has belonged to one or more of the employees at the garage, hence lack of invoices.

These cars have a limited market, and the high road tax does put a lot of folk off.

Cheers folks…

The car is very good. In fact, of the 6 I have looked at in the past few months, I would have to say it’s arguably the best. It’s arrow straight, and very very few blemishes for a black, 18 year old car…. It drives excellent, very tight, good notchy gearbox as I remember from my E46 M3 days…. Nice quiet diff even when I had some fun on a damp roundabout on my way home this afternoon. 🤪

Everything works, recent discs and pads all round, and it also has a stainless exhaust. Not sure what make but it’s defo stainless, I’m not sure the standard ones are???

I called the garage that looked after it for the last 7 years. They were a little reluctant to talk initially but once, I guess, I passed the attitude test the guy I spoke to was very helpful. He knew the car well and only maintained it because they were friends with the owner(s). The guy said he would happily carry on maintenance if I liked. There’s actually bags of receipts with it. Oil analysis reports, etc etc…

I’ll be doing the rod bearings next weekend, and will change all the fluids to start on an even keel. 👌🏻

All the best Jimbo. The first person to actually make the effort to come and see the car. The personal touch goes a long way. Sometimes it pays to respect someone's request for privacy eh and have the minerals to actually pick up the phone and call a seller?! I have just logged on to wish Jimbo all the best. Top man. I also couldn't help myself but look back at some of the previous comments which bordered on paranoia and have a good laugh at them. “He who laughs last, laughs best.” Everyone needs a pick me up from the Monday blues. PS, I actually through in 12 litres of castrol 10w 60 supercar oil, 2 oil filters, 6x platinum spark plugs, Air filter and pollen filter for future services. Just because that's the way I roll. Enjoy Jimbo. All the best.

Glad you got the car sold. I am not sure what is funny about the fact that your advert posed more questions than answers - if I'd been in the market for an M your advert would have only attracted me if I'd been very close to you, AND on the basis that I'd be making a very cheeky offer. When advertising things for sale it's better (assuming you want to sell as soon as possible for the highest price possible) if your advert attracts lots of people from much further afield.

The only person who should be laughing here is the person who has bought a car without having to outbid much (anything) in the way of competition.

Fantastic mate, sounds like it's been well looked after!

It's a shame it all turned a bit sour in here based on the sellers reluctance to answer questions publicly, but it sounds like it might have worked in your favour as you did your due diligence and got a good result out of it. It's a very good price. Enjoy your M!

I am not a greedy person. Unfortunately a lot of the owners of these cars are dreamers and think they are worth more than they actually are. On another note. You don't know what I actually paid for the car now do you !!!!!! Yet again people making assumptions. I am bored today hence I am amusing myself. :D

All the services at the garage had the same pen, handwriting and signature. The service with all the additional work was partly the same handwriting and signature. However, all the additional work listed is someone else's handwriting. That looks suspicious enough and with no receipts to back it up it doesn't read good to me.

The previous owner said it was two local owners who used the same garage. He bought it off one of them and phoned the garage to confirm the service history of the car.

(The car had at least three owners over the time it was going to the same garage).

The mileage at MOT and service dates show discrepancy.

If you're happy with it that's all that matters. I felt alarm bells were ringing with this car and my observations and questions were fair. Since the lowest priced Z4M took a while to sell I can't be the only one with concerns.

There is nothing greedy about advertising a car as well as you possibly can to generate as much interest as possible and in the hope of achieving market value!

I have made absolutely no assumptions about what you paid for the car, it makes no difference whether you paid £1 or £1m, if you got less for it due to a poor advert you lost out on money.

You do you, that's fine... but coming back crowing because you managed to sell a car, eventually, at an unknown price, when you may have got more money, more quickly, if you'd advertised it better seems a bit silly.

Surely it is up to the OP to decide on how they sell it, to whom and for how much? Most of the people commenting on this thread probably had no intention of buying anyway. Serious buyers would get in touch directly rather than posting all their questions on the thread. Talk is just that, but in this instance the person who reached out and payed the cash walked away with it.
