bargains still to be had.

Yeh but that imola zmc is at Hexagon who are the specialist dealer for Ms of all types and still stock z3m and z8 where possible. You have to understand that they are at the bottom of the Bishop Avenue in London, the street with the most valuable houses in the UK. One of their locals will wander in and get his PA to pay for a car that cheap from the petty cash she carries. That's just the way it is. Location, location, location.

Also, traditionally M3s depreciate like crazy so you'd be mad to buy a £38K m3 unless you get a strong GFV or don't mind losing a heap of cash. I'd still clearly not buy that zmc but long term a mint, sub 5k miles, fullt loaded main dealer car for up to £30K will prove a better investment (if you call losing less money an investment).

i think i would want to keep the standard wheels but keep me in mind when and if you decide to sell :D

Senwar - I could potentially be interested in a swap if you decide to sell and eteldm doesn't have them. :)

I`d bet the dealer would knock a few grand off the 28995 one at a push.
That red 36k car is worth 28k max IMO even at current higher average prices

etedlm / MarkW - no probs, will keep in mind. I think pvr showed an interest a while back too..

And Darren - totally agree and think the dealer prices are reflecting this. However, certainly gives me food for thought and a ball park to work with (which thank christ is a far better ball park than what I was given in December!)

That's where I got my car from..!!

Though sadly I don't live there and as much as I'd like a pretty little PA doing my errands I don't have one of those either...

Still, it was what I wanted and where they got my p/x figure from, I'll never know..!! :o

I would say Sub £19k for that car would be a good price and Sub £18k would be a bargain.

£21k+ is strong money.

I'm not complaining it would indicate I have made over £3k on mine.....

Got to disagree with that mate. I've never seen a Coupe for £18k.

£21k is a very good price, although the lack of Sat Nav knocks a fair chunk off.

When I bought my Roadster there were 5 cars on the market for sub £19k - 2 of those were coupe's with under 25k on the clock ;)

If that were true you must be kicking yourself for not buying the coupe comparing current prices. Did you check if these had running in services etc. Cheapest I ever saw was around £21k on high miles and it still sold.

My comment regarding values on sat nav was based on fact. It doesn't matter if it is not as good as a tom tom, average joe on the street doesn't care he wants built in sat-nav and the pop up screen to show off to his mates with. It is the same story on used E46 M3, Nav means its worth more. In fact some dealers are only interested in M3s with nav. Wasn't there a story on here about a guy whos finance company would only let him PCP one with Nav. What does that tell you?

The sat nav was a must for me so that I could get the integrated Nav and an ipod intravee kit. Also sticking a £99 gadget on the front window of my Coupe looks pretty crap in my opinion.

Sat Nav doesn't work in our favour though when you sell. A dealer would offer hardly anything more if you had Sat Nav and the longer you wait to sell it, the more out of date the Sat Nav becomes!! It will be like owning a car with a tape player that you can't remove!

I'm happy with my Tom Tom as I only use it when I have to and that's probably only 3 times a year and the Tom Tom is way advanced to the Z4 unit! :)

That Imola red is a bargain at the moment compared to one a couple of years younger!

I know it's low mileage, but I can't see anyone buying it for that price, especially when you could get this for similar money!
This car was up elsewheres (Preston maybe?) at £32k a couple of weeks ago, Hexagon bought it from this dealer as they are trying to corner the market. If it had no takers at £32k then it definitely isnt going to fly off the shelves at £37k.

How do you manage to get "Audible" Speed Camera Warnings, if you don't mind me asking? I used to manufacture BMW DVD Map Disks with the latest "PocketGPSWorld" Speed Camera Database added & sell them on Ebay. Unless BMW have altered the soft/firmware on their DVD SatNav's in the past 24 months (which I doubt), it is absolutely impossible to get an audible warning!!! - Purely a visual camera icon is all that is available........ :headbang:

It's not absolutely impossible at all. You just need to make a copy of your map DVD and follow the instructions that are available on X5world.com. Anyone who is IT literate should be able to do it.

I'm not sure if you should be advertising the fact you used to sell copies of BMW maps on fleabay though...

Breaker, this just isn't the case at all. A car with sat nav will command a premium of at least a £1000 over one without. That is a fact whether you feel the BMW system is dated or not. It is also much easier to sell.

In defence of the OEM sat nav, although it isn't state of the art it works very well. If you keep the firmware and maps up to date then it performs excellently and is not the soon to be obselete device that some would have you believe. You can legally make a copy of your own disc and add speed camera audio visual alerts and full post code search if you so wish. Even without these additions it works well, it's just better with them. I have travelled all over Britain and into Europe using the BMW system in my M3 and my Z4M and it hasn't put a foot wrong. What more can you ask from a sat nav sytem? Don't believe the hype about Tomtom, it's good but in my experience of both systems, it's not streets ahead as some have stated.

Sorry to go OT but it needed said IMO.

Apparently there is a shortage of cars but BMW UK now has a page full of Coupes - the most I have seen for sale for many months.Any excuse for a dealers to try for higher prices.

Completely agree. I also find looking around for speed cameras just as effective. They are all bright yellow where I live.

Each to their own on the Nav I guess. Just going on what my dealer told me about the value of sat nav.

A quote from WhatCar "• In general, special and limited editions aren't worth much more than the basic model they were based on unless they're absolutely packed with extra equipment. Even then, you might only be able to add a few hundred pounds on."

Having things like Sat Nav, heated seats, cruise may sell your car quicker, but it's debatable if it will score you very much more cash.

All depends on the buyer. I didn't look for Nav because I was after a sports car, not a tourer, but that's just me but I guess there will be a few that think the same way just as there will be those that like their gadgets (it is/was a good show-off to mates when you get a new car I guess!).

The Tom Tom works for me as I have 3 cars so I can just drop it into whichever I am using if needed (although I don't use the Nav much anyway).

The mobile traps aren't bright yellow...

+1 for TomTom here bought it a few years ago and it is still upto date for little outlay and can swap it about between our 2 cars :D

It used to be the case (not sure now) that Parkers/Glass' and trade guide prices were based on a certain spec - and for most BMW's that included Nav - with a side note of £1k less if it didn't have navigation.

Only reason I specc'd nav was so my dash looked different to my previous Z. Whilst it isn't the best system in the world, it does work very well and looks good. I will certainly look for Nav in future cars, and the latest BMW nav systems are a significant step above the one in the mark 1 Z's

Just had a quick look on the BMW search and you all may be right on the resale price of Nav.

Without Nav, same dealer: http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/car_details/0,,1260_159980106__,00.html?currentCh=WBADU52040LJ50639

With Nav same dealer: http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/car_details/0,,1260_159980106__,00.html?currentCh=WBADU52040LJ50687

I wonder if it's the same when you are selling to a dealer?

Breaker a car is worth a lot more with nav than one without, you are trying to re invent the price guides here. You are wrong about this and your dealer was lying to you. The other extras you are correct about but not the nav. This is fact.

Whether you personally don't find nav desireable and wouldn't pay extra for it doesn't come into this.
