MaxMan, see you.
Danny,I came over to have a chat ,but you looked to be adjusting something at the rear of the seats ,so I did not disturb you,you were parked at the top end of the pits. How was your day.
Their was one other Z4 roadster out also.We were out in my sons 130M.
As others have said the Bedford Autodrome is as safe as it's going to get doing a track day.Quite a few cars taking their Reg plates off when they were in the pits, lease or hire cars not wanting to be photographed.

how was the suspension danny?? really looking forward to your review on them.

Are you aware your top mounts are installed in the incorrect orientation?? or did you do this for a reason?

the hashed lines should be nearest the fender on each respective side, the install manual clearly outlined this.

Max Man, yes saw your car, and sorry that I was busy. I was adjusting the belts which is always harder than it should be!

Beedub, suspension felt great! Obviously it was wet, but the traction the car had was amazing. I will check out the top mounts, so thanks for pointing that out...

Here is a video of a couple of laps. Some oversteer was obviously provoked and some was predicted but just a by product of speed and the sheer amount of water on the track.

Enjoy.

danny ignore me, I'm wrong, double checked the manual and they are correct... mine are the same :| :| :| excuse me for not checking before posting... they are not handed however so the hash marks are opposite on each side!

Hi All,

Car is now finished and ready for action on the 14th Nov at Bedford for it's first outing on track!

There have been a few trials and tribulations along the way, such as ordering incorrect Anti-roll bars (for a 3.0l Si Coupe) and tyres that are 1 size too wide all round which has caused the odd headache, but other than that the build came together really well.

Final spec / work list was

Big end bearing all replace
oil pump replaced
Apex ARC-8 wheels with R888's
Big brake kit, 6 pots front 4 pots rear
KW Clubsport coilover kit with adjustable front top mounts
H&R adjustable ARB's
Rogue engineering rear inverted top mounts
RTAB poly upgrade
4 plate Motorsport spec LSD
Vibra Technics Engine and gearbox mounts
Cobra Suzuka Pro seats
Sroth Harnesses
Steering wheel and gearlever gaitor recovered in Alcantara with M stitching (Royal wheels).
Suspension setup by Guglielmi Motorsport in Daventry = amazing job as always!

Probably missed somthing! I'll be taking some in car footage at Bedford, so I'll add this to the thread when ready.

Thanks to everybody for their interest and help.

Dan

Hi Dan,

Thanks for sharing this list - I am slowly transforming my coupe into a more track focused animal so this is big help.

Dan - I am really interested in your thoughts about your car at Bedford - was it as good as you hoped?
Also really interested in your story of how your car build went, and the lessons you learnt as you went along.
I am about 60% through the mods to my car on its way to becoming track competent. The engine shells will be done this week, the BBK is on, I am going to get the coilovers sorted in the spring along with some better seats. I would like to be roughly where you are now in about 6 months.

Hey, so sorry for not replying sooner.
The car was really really good at Bedford. It was seriously wet, but the car had loads of front end grip and would oversteer by preference.
I couldn't get over how sure footed it was!
I'll be doing loads of trackdays this year and I'll keep you informed of the dates in case you want to come along.

Ta

their is such a good chassis in these cars, with some mods ( albeit costly ones) you won't believe how well the car performs.

Great to hear, sounds like your mods really paid off. I took mine over to Bedford a couple of weeks after you went. It was dry in the morning then wet afternoon. I had a really good time. I am going to be getting in as many track days in 2016 as I can too, so please keep me posted and be great to go along. :driving:

Ok, just booked

8th April at the Ring - Circuit Days
9th April at Spa - Goldtrack.

Hope you can make it.
If you need hotels sorting out then just let me know.

Hi Dan,
After meeting last week I thought I'd check out your build thread :)
Great looking track car you've created there
I watched the Bedford laps; you weren't kidding about the weather! Lots of twitchy bends - you did well to keep it on the track at 4:58 :driving:
