Back in Z4MC ownership- and building a track beast :)

At least one third of all UK registered Phoenix Yellow Z4MCs do track days, home and abroad, and in the wet or dry. :P

Good stat! Wow, only 3 of them, but then I guess that makes sense as there's surely a very small portion of the population that are totally nuts and would order a car in that colour
I kind of like it though

@Easty-5 flippin awesome photos :). What event was this? Drift day of some sort? Did you leave with any thread?

Just a regular Trackday at Knockhill. The hairpin just invites you to partake in some sideways action. By no means that quickest way round, but by in large, the funnest way :-)

Surprisingly enough, those tyres are no longer on the car. They were Michelin PSS. Very difficult to actually get that sideways with them. Too much grip. Great for quick laptimes, not so much for drifting.

Hi All,

Car is now finished and ready for action on the 14th Nov at Bedford for it's first outing on track!

There have been a few trials and tribulations along the way, such as ordering incorrect Anti-roll bars (for a 3.0l Si Coupe) and tyres that are 1 size too wide all round which has caused the odd headache, but other than that the build came together really well.

Final spec / work list was

Big end bearing all replace
oil pump replaced
Apex ARC-8 wheels with R888's
Big brake kit, 6 pots front 4 pots rear
KW Clubsport coilover kit with adjustable front top mounts
H&R adjustable ARB's
Rogue engineering rear inverted top mounts
RTAB poly upgrade
4 plate Motorsport spec LSD
Vibra Technics Engine and gearbox mounts
Cobra Suzuka Pro seats
Sroth Harnesses
Steering wheel and gearlever gaitor recovered in Alcantara with M stitching (Royal wheels).
Suspension setup by Guglielmi Motorsport in Daventry = amazing job as always!

Probably missed somthing! I'll be taking some in car footage at Bedford, so I'll add this to the thread when ready.

Thanks to everybody for their interest and help.

Dan

That looks fantastic Dan, you must be chuffed. Who built the diff for you?
Only thing I would say are you sure your front discs are not the wrong way round? Aps etc usually have the grooves going the other way to yours... like this for instance http://www.e90post.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=783490&d=1353158313
Anyway, have fun out there!

JC Racing built the diff- they are really good lads based in North Yorkshire.

Thanks for the heads up! I will check them, however JC Racing fitted them so can't think that they'd get it wrong- but you never know!

Your car now does look something special.
My son has booked his car in for the track day at Bedford on the same day,has also booked me in as a passenger.Hope to see you there.

danny I'm well impressed you actually got those seats to fit !! lol!! their is not much space to play with in this car.

Deedub, yes they are a bit tight, but don't seem to rub other than on the gearbox tunnel. Even so, it doesn't make any noise or anything.

Machine monkey, yes Royal Wheels- service was great and quality is top notch.

Looks fantastic Danny - I'm interested to hear how you find it at Bedford. It's a shame the weather's not so good now as you might struggle to get the tyres up to temperature if it's cold and damp. What BBK have you fitted? It's hard to see the detail of the photographs on my phone.
If you don't mind sharing the information, can you send me your suspension settings please. I've set mine up through trial and error alone. I'd like to know how those of the experts differ from my settings.

I'm no where near getting the settings completely sorted- I'm just having a stab in the dark at the moment, but using the base settings given by KW for Nurburgring work.
I will be happy to share when I find something of interest.

Righto, thanks Danny. I misunderstood this:

to mean that they'd tested it and tweaked the settings. I use more or less the KW suggested settings for road and airfield tracks (where the Tarmac can be a little bumpy) and much firmer settings for smooth tracks such as Thruxton.
