Auto wipers wipe when they shouldn't

As title? As mine don't auto wipe, they just act as normal, just checked the options list with my vin number (Bmwvin.com) and it has rain sensor listed which I assume means I have auto wipers?

Thanks

you have to position it into auto mode for it to work automatically. its set to another position, but from experience you have to set them going for it to detect that it is raining

That's right. If you leave them in auto and shut down the car, they won't reactivate them until you switch them off and back to auto.

Sorry should have said I had a BMW z4 before with auto wipers but and bought a newer better engined one etc. I know that you have to put them in position 1/intermittent mode. But when i do that they just wipe 'non automatically'.

:?

Does the sensitivity adjustment dial on the stalk work as it would for normal intermittent wipers, just changing the timing between wipes?

Will have a look tommorow, thanks, it has AUC warranty so hopefully covered, also noticed they sometimes don't sit in the right place, sit about an inch from all the way down.

From what I worked out on my old z4 the sensitivity still works with the auto wipers, just senses the rain quicker, if that makes sense :?

Sounds like they might need to replace the wiper motor as it sounds like the grease problem is affecting it, and they won't clean it out. As wondermike said check for a bubble in the windscreen sensor.

Don't know why you would want to disable though, I like the auto wipers and they seem to work well as does the sensitivity settings.

I don't want to disable, I was wondering if perhaps it had been disabled, as they weren't acting like auto wipers. Thanks will check that tommorow when it is light :)

Booked it in with BMW :) also said about a distorted rear sub to see of they will sort that while it's in!

let us know the outcome as mine also work like normal wipers.

i was told to push the stalk up, but that only gives me intermittent wipers (where you can adjust the time between wipes).

i have the rain sensor also so would like to know how to sort it out.

Will do. That's the same as what mine is doing but mine also gets stuck an inch up the screen.

Have you checked that the car hasn't been coded to turn off rain sensor, can be found in SSS v32

Recently one of my right arm wiper got bent and I didn't know how to turn them off. These really helped me.

No I haven't, it's actually in BMW today, I'm sure they will check that won't they?

Thanks
