Having been a cyclist and car driver. The van driver is completely out of order! There is never a need for attacking anyone like that! Cyclist do seem to think the Highway Code applies to them!!

Girl at work had a fine, I thought she had been given yet another fine for jumping a red light on her bike, but no it was a bus lane fine which she was fuming about but she actually had the cheek to say that jumping red lights is all part of the fun and she didn't mind the fine! Sorry? See the financial penalty is doing its job, not! And she's always complaining she's skint! She was once late for a meeting cause she jumped a red light right in front of a police car and actually argued why she was right to do so. Idiot.

I believe the UK is one of only 5 in he EU who don't have this law, so if they do implement this does that mean that a cyclist is held responsible if they hit a pedestrian? Even if they walk out in front of them on a red man for example?

We had to have three panels repaired and a new wing mirror, after a paper boy rode into our first car, whilst parked outside our house. Some years on, MrsG, reversed over a paper boy's bike, layed on the floor, in a parking bay and we ended up buying him a new bike. No justice. So yes the system in skewed, but I can't see how you place the responsibility on the cyclist, without imposing the sort of penalty that would drive, (pun intended), them all off the road and the pollution's in Downing street, love a green mode of transport.
The indicator is on at the start of the video and as said, even if it wasn't you would have to assume the van will turn left and therefore stay slightly behind it. The van driver is on his phone though which makes my blood boil (and the cyclist from the sounds of things).
If the van had turned left it would have been a lesson learned (hopefully without any lasting injuries) but the way the van runs the cyclist out of road is completely unacceptable, let alone the follow up attack! It will be interesting to see what charges are brought against this oath.

Considering he didn't commit GBH or ABH for that matter, that would be tough. He should however be prosecuted for Dangerous driving and sued by the cyclist for common assault. The van driver lost his rag with the cyclist and cut him up. He left a good width from the curb until right at the last minute and came across the cyclist.
Either way, I would have waited for the cyclist to make his mind up or waited till there wasn't any oncoming traffic and overtook him. No patience from either party it seems.
Also, I though there was legislation to punish people for road rage incidents.
