You’re going to wonder what to do with yourself once all this kit’s been fitted & fettled! I suppose you could always drive it around

The Lotus colour Solar Yellow which is a rich yellow in a pearl finish is to die for

New rear spoiler arrived today..exactly 3 months after I ordered it..next time I’ll ask for sea freight rather than air freight :tumbleweed:

Quality looks good..not yet tried it for fit..real carbon fibre as opposed to ‘FRP’ or a moulding..will save 23g over a FRP version..

Since it will be colour matched I guess it’s just one of those personal pleasures…

So slow progress..got the new NGK coils to replace the dodgy, podgy Hella coils..should be fitted on Monday...

I updated the vehicle order to remove the electronic damper option, (had a fault code and disabled sports mode warning) added the performance brake option for the 6 pot brakes, coded the new index 12 injectors with their flow rates and then uploaded the MHD Stage 2+ map which on 98 RON should be good for about 420 HP with the VSRF de-cats and Wagner EVO FMIC.

Also coded the DCT box using xHP with a stage 2 map.

After all that realised that IF you use xHP then in MHD you are supposed to code using gearbox = manual ( I guess to avoid some overlap)..so will have to re-flash the DME, after the initial flash it only takes about 5 minutes for subsequent flashes.

I'll take the car to the dyno before Christmas if possible to see how it all looks before the TTE500 turbos and other bits go on.

Took a few pictures of the wheels and brakes..looking a bit dirty so not the best looking shots..

Those wheels look well with your car, great combo

Andy, glad you like them, I’m not so sure :tumbleweed: , yet, maybe once everything is clean and polished…don’t like dirty cars… :headbang:

Yes I do and I think the look will improve greatly when the soap etc is cleaned up around the tyre/wheel.

It’s allowed to be dirty while in progress, the clean and polish can be the final act

Ah well, I guess I’ll have to calm down, have a cup of tea, and ponder..as you say wash n polish should improve matters

The joys of buying from China..

Ordered a rear C/F spoiler on the 31st August 2021..went missing for weeks..so after 6 weeks I ordered a second one on the 15th November.

Then on the 27th November the missing one arrived.. 88 days later..23 days late..

And voila...the second one arrived today.. 16 days after I ordered it..21 days early..

Really must be more patient..

Wonder what I can do with two c/f spoliers?

Peter, you're always looking for the next level.
Surely you can use the pair for some kind of DRS set up? :poke:

I’ve got too many buggars chewing at my heels..I’m not giving them a DRS opportunity… :tumbleweed: :driving:

So appointment made for early January for rear spoiler ( one of two ) painted plus rear valance and diffuser colours reversed plus front spoiler central cross piece and roll over loop covers in gloss black.

Copies the first yellow peril pretty much..

You could post one for sale on here for a tenner plus postage and I'm sure someone may take it off your hands out of pity.

First shakedown drive..

Known issue of ‘knocking’ from rear of the new Ohlins set up..internet shows several people with same issue…further investigation required.

Steering much better, more feel with no extra NVH…

Road conditions weren’t great , greasy plus 6c..so limited exploration of limits.

Ride much better on the Ohlins despite now 19” 437M rims on Michelin PS4S 235 and 275.

Quaife LSD huge gain especially in these conditions.

Misfired shortly after departure..fault looks like it was related to previous coil issues..cleared huge number of faults from the DME and TCU..after that very pokey..wheel spin in 4th without much provocation despite the LSD.

Still got an electronic damper fault message but will remove the damper connectors from their box, hopefully that should clear it.

So ride and handling much better..need to dial in pressures, preloads and damper settings but looks like a good start.

Felt a massive improvement from new engine strut brace..

I’ll paint it black shortly.

So moving forward..

 :driving:

Good to see you with an engine that actually fills the bay Peter :poke:

Question, whats the difference between an index 12 and index 9 injector?

I’d a preferred a twin turbo V8 in there to fill the engine bay but I get your drift

If it’s any relevance the N20 engine is still a pig to work on despite what appears to be an empty bay.

On the N54, it was BMW’s first stab at turbocharged direct injection and they designed an exotic piezo electric operated fuel injector..unfortunately it suffered from multiple issues ( misfires, fuel leaking into cylinders when shut down), clogging up, internal components melting) and these were addressed by new versions but rather than giving them new part numbers they used the phrase index to refer to the revision level.

Index 12 was the last and according to folk lore the best ..

Each injector has two variables that has to be programmed into the DME..

Due to these issues there are limitations on what you can mix on one bank (bank being either front 3 or back 3 cylinders)

Generally all injectors on a bank should by same revision level.

Progress wasn’t linear so it’s not necessarily guaranteed that a later index number is better (index 12 being an exception)

The N55/20 got a later electronic magnetic version which with the exception of index 2 are regarded as pretty good.
