I normally get bored with my cars after a year, so the fact I kept my Z4 for 2 years shows that it was a keeper. I only got rid of it due to my own financial credit crunch...otherwise I was planning on keep that car for ages, had absolutely no urge to change.

Nice one Bing. The thought did go through my mind for a short time. Daft idea for me when I thought a bit more. Glad to hear such a well-cared for car is going to such a devotee.

After months away from the forum due to being snowed under with work I can't think of a better thread to post on Taz, mines a keeper - nearly 7 years with my z and never want to sell, role on the nice weather so he can surface from the garage (not sure the x5 will fit in though when it does! I have noticed that some forumites seem to be moving on to other (newer?) models.
Could it be that the Z4 in one sense has had it's time and folk having had their fun are moving on?
Understandable and leaves some rather nicely cared for examples available for those looking for excellent value - affordable second/third car.
So a new ownership base starts to come through backed up by the knowledgeable founders of this forum?
When I was looking for a sports car 8 years ago the Z4 wasn't even considered - far too expensive as a fun car so the MX5 was purchased (a brilliant car).
6 years later I was delighted to see that a Z4 was affordable now and seemed excellent value so traded up.
There's also the notion that the E89 doesn't hit the same spot as the E85/86 so there is no movement to a more 'modern' newer version. Zed's changed in 2009 leaving driving enthusiasts to invest in the original Zed model or move to the M/Alpina. . . there may be more longevity in this ownership base?
