Apple Mini Event

I thought they were going to be sub £200 for the entry level one?

I like the way they only spec the iPad 2 with 16Gb of storage

They might be steep. But my unibody 13" mbp is 4 years old and I still use it professionally and it hasn't skipped a beat, thats what you pay for. They are built well and reliable thats what I need, for that I will pay the price.

There is no way any of my windows machines would have done the same. The hammer this thing has had, really is a great product for the pro.

Love the new thin iMac, even if in reality it makes no difference since the older iMac doesn't exactly take up loads of desk space, the hdd would be nice though.

I'd love a retina display mac book pro aswell, but speccing one up comes to £2.5k  not a chance unfortunatly.

Eventually I'll replace the original iPad I'm using but the first gen still browses the web well enough, just the occasional slow page load where it won't let me scroll without snapping back several times over, making me want to throw it at a wall :headbang:

google have a keynote in less than a week. new nexus 7 with better hardware and £100 less than the mini is expected so cant wait. cant believe apple didn't put a retina display in the mini. even the kindle fire has a better display :o is anyone getting one???

Mmm,

Do I take the still as yet boxed & wrapped unused iPad 3 I bought last Friday back to John Lewis and ask for a refund? Apple make nice products but I hate their ethics, I really do.

I nearly learnt this when buying my first macbook...I ordered the white one on their website and just days later they introduced the unibody design...so I canceled the order. With Apple you need to follow the rumours sites to see whats happening, cos although they are rumours, they sometimes give good indication of whats round the corner.

You should be able to take your ipad back.

Do they have bad ethics? Do you mean that they release new products? Every company releases updated products, its just that with the hype that Apple get, people want the latest. In reality your ipad 3 will probably serve you perfectly well....but logic says why not have the latest for the same money. Hell, our ipad 1 does us ok, but have been thinking of upgrading for a while. I expect Apple stores were selling ipad 3 to people yesterday and not telling them...that is bad in my book.

I dont like the way Tim speaks....he sounds like a computer geek ( :? )

I hate the Apple launch method though....they russle up a frenzy and run out of stock to keep people wanting etc...every time they release a new product - its obviously a tactic (that works).

The rumours do ruin things though, but then again, how many of those "leaks" are on purpose?

Thanks for reminding me to buy a present for myself!!!

You are SUCH a gadget whore :D :P

Not cheap though... 32gb wifi only with a Smart Cover - £385 !!!

Says she doesn't want anything else... Yeah. Right

One difference, iPad MINI uses iPad 2 display res, not new retina display.

Actually the iPad MINI is basically a small iPad 2!

Apple sites overloaded and can't access it...I'm buying a new ipad too

I was on from about 0730 constantly refreshing the site as they updated it, then had it ordered by 0810 :D

Missed a trick with John Lewis though...

Hmm, I waited and bought a Nexus 7 in the end - £189 for 16GB and £15 of credit loaded on it in the Google Store. Apple have done a right boo boo here, charging £269 for a 16GB tablet when all its competitors are now offering (sometimes better) hardware below £200.

The Nexus infact even has a better screen resolution than the Apple! I cant believe they didnt consider putting the retina screen on the iPad mini, at least that would have given it a USP and justified the high price. I believe the Kindle HD even has a better resolution than both of them.

Gotta say the 7" screen is lovely to hold, fits well in the palm of the hand, not sure what the extra 0.9" of the iPad Mini would do apart from the stretch the hand out futher.

Deinfately a big missed opportunity by Apple which I think is going to (excuse the pun) come back and Bite them. Bite, Apple, see what I did there!

Rumour is as well that a new 32GB Nexus tab is on the way before Christmas for £199 and the current 16GB model will drop to £159 to compete directly with the Kindle.

Apple charges a premium for all its hardware. Much better spec PC's can be bought for less money than an iMac etc, its just the way it is.

They will sell.
