Anyone recognise this Z4 driver/boy racer?

Richard, I did think exactly the same thing when I watched this and read the comments. My other half won't attend any meets now for the same reason.

Very interesting topic that the change of price has changed the profile of owner and with that invariably the type and to some extent quality of driving.
It's hard to argue that 5+ to 10 years ago when getting into a higher end Zed cost £20k and an ///M was out of reach of most, the drivers were probably older, wealthier and more experienced drivers in many cases using them as a second or third car and now a bottom end 3.0 is around £5k, we're into 'boy racer' Corsa territory. Of course a massive generalisation and there are fantastic very young driver and poor older ones, etc. etc.

as with (mostly) all 'performance' cars, they get to a point where the chavs and the chavnots can afford to buy them... and drive them through a halfrauds window...More often than not, they can't really afford to run them right, so they fall into a greater state of disrepair, and with the Z4, or other BMWs it may also be their first taste of a fastish RWD car.. coming from slow FWD ones.
BMWs seem to suffer this quite a bit, think 3 series with neons, lexus lights, lambo doors...
People still seem to think having a beeemmmer means something good... maybe you've "made it" or are a "gangster"... I don't really know... the perception people have of themselves and their possessions stills confuses me from time to time...

Sorry, isn't this all a massive generalisation? Its not written that if you're younger and can afford a Z4 that you're a lary, insurance busting Corsa-monkey. I know or have witnessed on the roads of the UK, plenty of drivers my age and above that drive at stupid speeds in the most inappropriate way. Unfortunately this 19 year old gimp drives a Z4 but that doesn't mean all 19 year olds drive like that.
Re: the Zed meets I understand where you're all coming from. Some people don't want to drive at speed and would rather cruise and enjoy the mechanics of driving a car we all all love. A few would rather go at it hammer and tongs. But let them go for it; you don't have to follow or catch up. Or lets start being specific about the cruise rules on speed and etiquette before it happens so the ground rules are set.
Sorry - in a Tuesday mood as I'm carless but really don't want this great forum to start down a road of them and us - especially as if you join a forum you like the car enough to care (and if you don't you're very quickly found out (see recent trolling posts)).

Indeed, of the younger Z drivers I've met on meets so far, the likes of TomScott, Adam04 and hopefully myself have all proven that just as you get bad drivers with every age group and demographic, you also get some very good drivers in those. Don't forget we probably have the greater reactions, vision etc 8)

I'm not sure whether I'm classed as a 'younger driver' anymore but I don't condone this sort of behaviour.

Yes I am sure we all have enjoyed a swifter paced drive sometimes (surely that's the point of owning cars like these, the performance, the noise...Otherwise we might as well all have basic 1.0 cars with 0 fun factor).
If something comes out of this and he is spoken to by the police then let it be a warning. Like so many others have said, it won't be long and all of this will end in tears.

I could point to a myriad of things about different ages, sex, experience of drivers and how good they are, but I always think insurance premiums are a great yardstick. Hence, an 18 year old in a Z4 will be £2k insurance because they know the likely outcome..
