Anybody used the new versions of INPA / ISTA D?

As above really, had an email from BMCABLES saying new versions are available for both and was wondering if anyone here has used them, if they are any different from using the current INPA/DIS combo on our cars?
I suspect not as I doubt they have developed any new software for our cars now but figured it was worth an ask!

They do in the email, the pricing is supposed to be for existing customers but you could always contact them to see if they'll do a discounted price as you've already got one of their cables

I use ISTA-D (also called rheingold). But I paid nothing as it is warez :lol: (that makes bmcables a fenceshop?)

I think it's pretty good.
But slow and takes up a lot of hdd space. I dont use vmware or other virtual machine(I guess bmcables does that with a huge image), but I installed it directly on a tablet 8)
so then performance and space is important if your hdd is an sd card :lol:


Nice thing about it is that it scans all the ecu's/modules at once and you can see where there are codes, instead of going through that little inpa menu selecting 1 module at a time.
module support is also pretty good I think:

You can see that the left and right door sattelites dont respond/arent supported. No idea what that means, I think they are the controls for windows. But they do work.
And I have one code in 1 module (some grounding problem somewhere, but everything works fine)




I use it with a kkl cable btw, not dcan.
ista-d interfaces with ediabas for that (min. ver. 3.7 i believe)

But as I said it's much slower than inpa, not only the program, but also the code reading. Maybe with a GT-1 interface or ICOM interface it's much faster, I dont know.

I recently purchased the cable off a forum member and he kindly sent me the 2 discs of software with it, I finally managed to find a old laptop off a friend which ran xp (surprisingly hard to find nowadays lol) and as im not a computer wiz I cant do the whole setting up duel operating systems or virtual machines etc. so that was the easiest way at the time.

set about Installing the software and all was looking good until it ran out of HDD space

to summarise above..... would it be possible to just pay £19.99 and download the above and install it on a newer laptop running newer operating systems like windows 7 etc and just use the same silver cable?
