Such a shame- as others have said try and get a decent price and buy car back for peanuts and either (hopefully) repair yourself or worse case part it out.

Know exactly how you feel mate.
It's one thing to be angry with yourself and take it as a lesson when it's your own fault, but when you have so much damage through no/little fault of your own, it's not so easy and you feel like you're being punished twice (once by the other driver & again by the insurance company).
I'm just waiting for mine to be assessed before I think about removing my mods (B16 suspension, exhaust, Gruppe-M, private plate). Just spent £1000 on an I2 and bits too

My insurance is up for renewal on the 6th too. The current insurer is confusing me, as despite me having a renewal letter in front of me, they're now saying they won't insure in my postcode for this car and for someone with 0 NCB. I had full protected NCB until this accident, and I haven't changed address or car???

I would go through an acident claim company... They will be able to sort you out with a salvage yard which will buy the car off you... In most cases they collect it straight from the garage... And will pay more than it will cost you to buy it back off the insurance company.
Also never accept the firsts offer from the insurance company.

Sorry to hear this I know it doesn't make up for it but I hope you find another and aren't left too much out of pocket.
If you know where he lives, feel free to post it... lots of accidental fires are started by Christmas trees...

Sorry to hear the bad news.Surely the police can't just ignore this,if you have the others drivers details. 
I though insurance companies have a fund to help out when you are hit by a non insured driver.If you google uninsured driver the Motor Insurance Broker are there to help.You have to report it within five days.

Can't imagine what a downer this is - hope you get sorted out as quickly as possible.
Sorry to hear this and further highlights that those in society that pay their way are penalised and those that don't have no deterrent. This kind of thing really annoys me.
I don't buy the "blame the government" theory either.Yes I'm sure cuts etc play a big part in where resources go but it's against the law to drive without insurance and it's the police job to uphold the law. I would be speaking to your local mp and someone as high up in your police force as possible.
