Alpina Market Watch

The above makes sad reading on behalf of both parties. No blame was intended (by me anyway) , but it was just sad to see the demise of the car. :(

I did hear two weeks ago that Sytners eventually sold it internally at a trade auction where it reached just over £6k and that was after Sytners had had to spend money on it to get it to a saleable condition.

Passing one of these everyday in N London has me interested in them...
Not sure if i've seen this one up:

Sad though the story may seem on one level, to me it highlights something on a different level. It is one which has nothing to do with either of these two owners of the car but rather to do with the nature of expectations fostered through specialist forums, particularly of high performance and rarer cars.

These forums foster unrealistic expectations through focus on minutiae directed towards what is supposed to be 'the perfect example' and even indeed expectations that go beyond that and aims to better the cars than even when new!

It would be unrealistic, if not nigh on impossible, for a car that's around 15 years old and has 140,000 miles on the clock to meet some of these expectations. A car of this age and mileage will always have faults unless someone has gone to the obsessive and near-mindless extent of virtually rebuilding the thing...and then at what ridiculous cost?

I can't see any fault here with either of the two previous owners. All I can see are the unrealistic expectations of others.

Nice to see a few people know about this car! Just found this.

Currently enjoying FJ54OAO #105 and happy to report still starts and drives! Bought the car on a whim from a dealer who known for a long time. Looks so good and had a few Alpina's before.

Car been driving fine but battery light was coming on/off so sent car to BMW senior technician to check. The BSD wire was damaged and this was probably same cause for the lights to flash up on dash. Just having a service, new alternator going in same time. One headlight and door needs adjusting. The drivers door handle seems to be intermittent but also getting checked. Otherwise no faults came up. Only other thing I can think of is getting front bumper sprayed, the lower part is very chippy with miles.

At 143k miles it drives and feels way lower miles. Done about 700 miles so far. Its not daily driven as I have a few cars, but getting enough miles.

For sale on Autotrader, no rush. Another person can enjoy the Alpina Roadster.

Just to say Ned & ZedWheels had a nice car and every owner does there own bit. Cold start is so nice!

I don’t know if I can afford it or not but I’m too far away to go and have a bid on it. That’s even if it’s worthy of a bid in the first place.

Thanks ZedWheels. Definitely great lookers these Roadsters. Enjoying the extra few days of summer right now :D

What date is the BCA one? Can ask a dealer friend to check what it goes for.

I don't think we're likely to find out.

A mate of mine has an account with them and he said the only way is to logged on when it's being sold and watch it live, as they don't make their results public.

Gathered they no quick sellers. Not had many calls on mine, but that means more time to enjoy it!

I guess if you really need to sell that end price on ebay closer to what people willing to pay.

Looks like 10 for sale at the moment. Plus the one from the industry auction that might come up for sale in the next few days/weeks.
