Hi all,i have had my zed over 18 months now and i never realised the top of the hoops touch the roof lining,i always thought there was a small gap,i only noticed this as i have been faffing with the over the hoop wind deflector  -tbh i dont know why i am posting this!
I suppose/hope yours touch?-thanks

You do realise that right now, across the planet, various Z4 forumites are out there measuring the gap between roof and hood to report back and see how high they can get your stress levels...

Doesn't it depend on how high you have your seat set??

Ummm, no... The roll hoops are fixed :poke:

Mine has the chrome line trim and the roof has actually marked / shined up the outside corners of the hoops

mrlozzer - the backing on my headrests has worn though because of a tall person owning my car prior to me and having the seat right back touching the hoops. Also made shiny marks on the hoops...

I never worried about all these things touching, rubbing and chaffing until Andy started his various 'gimp mask' threads. I even had a dream last night about it.

Tell us about it. Did it involve a pool ball and whips and some lubricant for all the rubbing and chaffing............on the roof

Forget the tape measure, some feeler gauges might be more useful....

So we're all agreed that the hoops touch the headlining, with or without the 'gimp mask'' fitted therefore unless the top of the 'gimp mask' has a Brillo pad finish, which mine hasn't I fail to see how this could damage the headlining.
So Andy, there is one less thing for you to worry about!

Mine had the same thing... took me a while to work out how the marks had been made. Never worried about it.

Never noticed the roll hoops touching the hood either...

Yeah, not just marks though - literally worn right through the material on the back of the seats :(

yep, just like mine had... I seem to recall someone on here had found some kind of a spray which restored it's look a little... no idea what to search for though
