I was looking for a 3 litre but then saw my current 2.0 which ticked every box and had every extra, not disappointing at all. Drive them both to see if it's right for you.

Having followed a couple of 2.0 cars, I can vouch for the fact that they are NOT slow! Just ask Chezsherman!

With the car as it is, how much would you say is a reasonable price to pay?DLH said:Good service history to 2011 but no service since but not many miles either. Either get the seller to get the next service done (Inspection1) or haggle him down as you'll need to get the service done. With that covered then well worth considering.
Thanks for the advise.paulgs1000 said:Steven,
If you're prepared to travel then there are a lot of Zed's available so hold out for what you want.
The 2 litre Zeds are fun - I loved mine, they are free revving and light. Chezsherman and Geezah can vouch for how well they can keep up on the road. There are lots around and some nice versions. At your price point you should be able to find an excellent post facelift 2.0i Sport that comes with M sport leather seats, M sport steering wheel, M sport wheels and suspension as standard. Pre 2006 Zeds may have 'standard' seats and steering wheels etc - many owners like to upgrade). 2 litres have all the looks of the Zed and go around corners very well. Hold out for a well specced one as there are lots available. They can suffer from manifolds cracking
(my independent said he would weld mine if that happened - it didn't) and they can have infuriating engine warning lights due to over sensitive sensors - which can be annoying rather than a serious issue.
A pre facelift (facelift at 2006) 3.0 litre is an excellent choice but as these Zeds are over 10 years old then one which has been cherished and well maintained is a must. They can be kept on the road quite cheaply if you find a good independent mechanic. Tyres for all Zeds are expensive though mid range can keep the costs down. You can have the roof motor moved to a dry location (in the boot) for £80 avoiding high cost replacements due to rusting (though I see the one you're looking at as a new motor fitted I'd still consider this mod).
6 cylinder cars cost about a third more to run (makes sense really when you think about it) but this is particularly dependent on how you like to drive. Hold onto the revs and your Zed will drink juice alarmingly (until you get used to it!). For the performance though they can be remarkably good. Mid thirties on a motorway constant throttle for the 3 litre, higher for the 2 litre.
All versions of the Zed are worth buying as an involving and characterful sports car. They look far more expensive than they cost to buy and run. You'll have more difficulty selling a 2 litre on than a 6 cylinder Zed though. (something to keep in mind when you are buying). The market seems all over the place at the moment so you can afford to haggle hard, especially for a 2 litre.
Good luck with your search and do come and try out a run or meet, shared ownership adds to the Zed experience![]()

Is autotrader the best place to be looking? Im struggling to find an 2.5si sport under 7k for a decent onemr wilks said:stevengude said:Thanks for the advise.

You should buy the best that your budget allows & as for losing money  who can predict what the Z market will do in the future
If you have £7k I would be into one of the 3.0Si roady's currently for sale around £7k
A facelift 2.5si sport spec around £6k should offer a good compromise
2.0 Sports 50k-60kish- around £5k
Failing that a 3.0Se under 100k around £4500 will always hold favour
