Good and bad news they can repair it.

The insurance company of the guy who hit you will no doubt pay for the repairs, but they don't pay for the money you may loose come re-sale time with it being logged as a repaired vehicle and money you may loose on insurance, even if it's protected, come renewal time!! All not fair considering it's not your fault! :(

Yeah i know :(

Although my insurance is going up by £300 to £1500 anyway because of 3 points i recieved 7 weeks ago. Oh and my renewal is due at the end of next week

I was insured with Diamond for a bit until I got points, then my quote went up horrifically too. Shop around - I think mine actually came down in the end with a different insurer. Oh, and glad you're ok too just to echo everyone else's sentiments!

Lucy, fab news ref the repair, your car will be lovely again. So sad when your beloved motor gets written off. My missus still sheds tears over her car which was written off over 2 years ago!! ( who said silly cow ............ :D )

They have different rates on whether you know how to drive a RWD or FWD car???????? Sounds like insurers over there get you 10 ways to Sunday!

Exactly.

They would happily insure you on some open-diff, no abs, no tcs old Ford Capri with 150bhp from a 2.8 V6 on dodgy old tyres that goes tail to tail in an instant for no apparent reason (relative to some newer rwd cars and most BMW's)
BUT, as said, it's their narrow statistical analysis that does it. No longer are people individuals, just a 'demographic' and so something like power + rwd (irrespective of if the car is actually a handful) = "need experience" flag over your head... their prerogative, but it doesn't always work as you have people with a 300bhp rwd car and 'experience' that saves their bacon daily, then jumping in a 300bhp rwd TVR that will bite them hard instantly.

Depends so much on specific cars and specific cars experience, but that is too hard to statistically measure for most mainstreams, hence why some more specialist insurers do better deals, but some are still a bit pedantic on 'experience'... ie, the old V6 Capri doesn't class as a scary powerful rwd car, yet a safe Z4 does

i hope thye didnt transport the car with the hydraulic jack sitting like that

insurance job? see if u can get a new set of rims all around

This week's Auto-Express has an article on insurance increasing for 'no fault' drivers. As said, you're more likely to have another accident statistically. It seems some insurers are far worse than others for doing this.

TBH the whole insurance system is crazy. I can't get insurance from some companies (including the one advertised on this Forum) because I have a Liverpool postcode. The fact that I have a full no claims stretching back 15 years, have not been involved in an accident for longer and don't actually live in Liverpool at all are all irrelevant! :x

You'd think that insurance companies would look at each driver's history and then decide if it was a risk they wanted to take.

I also have a Liverpool postcode, but I live in Liverpool and the car is parked on the road/drive. I too could not get a good deal out of the insurers who sponsor the club & forums I frequent.

Every year I spend a day phoning around, doing online quotes and waiting a week for people to get back to me, simply to keep my premium at or below my current premium. I've only once had a renewal that was cheaper than the previous/current year, and that was when I went from a modified Corrado VR6 to a non-modified BMW M5.

I always give my current insurer the first opportunity to give me a better quote, but 99% of the time I'll end up going elsewhere. The other trick I've found during renewal times is the conditions/exclusions/excess will change without your knowledge - which should be against the law because the policy only states that the exclusions/conditions are those in the policy documents, which of course you usually don't get a new version of when you renew.

I've lost out on track day cover, had my excess doubled, had my business use removed, etc. all without my knowledge and then had to spend days arguing over either adding it back on at no cost to me, or cancelling the whole policy and starting the process again.

Exactly, they need to start looking more at the driver.

A crap driver will be a liability in an Enzo or a Metro, and could cause just as much 3rd party damage.

They are chasing the stats so much I think they are missing the obvious, some drivers are just shite :P

Another update - Pete at Sytners phoned me 10 minutes ago to let me know that someone from the insurance company has come to inspect my car today and gave them the go ahead to repair it
So it's stripped down and in bits in the workshop at the minute waiting for the parts which will take 2-3 days to come, and he's estimated 10-12 days to get it looking sexy again. :)

This was the news you were hoping for so good stuff....

Now, did you get yourself checked over for injuries? I'm not saying go all the way down the ambulance chaser route, BUT, you did suffer from whiplash by the sounds of it and that may very well manifest itself in the future, make sure you receive any injury/loss of earnings compensation that you are due (any lost modelling contracts/jobs?). :?

Eugh.

Guess i want them for a different reason to you... sitting on them :poke: weirdos on this site :fuelfire:

Yes i got myself checked out on Monday, i have whiplash and internal bruising near my spine. So now it's on record i'll be claiming for that.
Luckily i don't have any modelling jobs confirmed at the minute so thats good. A photographer that i know got in touch with me when he had heard about my accident to wish me well and everything, and also suggested that when both me and the car are better and fully functioning then we should get the Z in the studio with Me as a celebration, that will be fun :D I wouldn't be able to hold a pose at the minute and don't think i'll be able to for a few weeks :(

I'm going to see my poorly car in the hospital this afternoon. I might aswell since i'm going to Sytners anyway as i'm taking my Dad to pick his X5 up from it's service.

Glad you got checked out but not that you found you did get an injury

Be careful what you post on the forum as it's viewed by insurers too and I'd hate you to prejudice your claim....

So no pose of you wounded lying on the car so you can have a both damaged and both repaired, before and after shot??

Good to hear ur ok on the whole, get your injuries sorted then get a nice claim in! did you not have any ambulance chasers after you the next day trying to get you to claim off him?

Quote cj10jeeper: ''So no pose of you wounded lying on the car so you can have a both damaged and both repaired, before and after shot??''

nice subtle hint there!

Just been to see it up at Sytners. Thought i might aswell while i was taking my Dad to collect his from it's service.

He went through everything with me of what it's going to need and it's mainly just bolt on stuff. He said himself he was surprised it didn't bend anything major but it's fine. Tough cars :)

Not nice seeing it look like that though :(

Needs to cover up that air intake, otherwise a few weeks later when they start it they might realise someone left a few nuts and screws in there

Good to see it's mainly straight, just looks like panel/detail work rather than any sub-frame stuff :)

I dunno, take a few more body panels off and it`ll look like a beefy Ariel Atom thingies

Glad to hear you`re okay but sorry to hear about the whiplash. You should stay away from her ........anyone remember the gutter press stories in the 90`s about a certain Miss Whiplash?
