Light weight, great handling, agile, then someone goes and does this...

My guess is he/she tows something like a sailing dinghy. As a dinghy sailor myself I am fortunate that my wife has a Mondeo fitted with towing equipment. If I was on my own I wouldn't run two cars and would have tough choice to make. Swap the Z4 for something "suitable" for towing which I would only do a couple of times a year, or if it can be done fit a towbar to the Z4 and be done with.

I might get scorned by the motoring enthusiasts but the sailing enthusiasts would think its a blast when I turn up with a boat on the back!!!

This guy is my new neighbour so i'll keep an eye out to see what he's dragging around with him :?

How's about a bike rack ?. I had a tow bar on my Celica a few years ago, that was for my enduro bikes.

You can mock and scoff if you like, but I would have fitted a detacthable bar to my Z if one had been available at the time (I have seen one since on a German website) to tow my R1 to trackdays. :D
In the finish I had to put one on the wife's Focus, the downside is she gets to to drive the Z for the day

Problem is even the detachable ones are still visible to some extent. I fitted a Bosal detachable bar to my previous car despite the particular version being unrated for towing: Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI and the bumpers were different to any other Ibiza so stopped a towbar fitting easily, plus for some reason Seat would void your warranty on it if you fitted a towbar. Perhaps they thought the 245lbft torque wasn't enough

Anyway, I managed it despite Seat refusing to sell me a towbar! Not sure I'd want to do the same to my Z4 - big difference between a sporty hatch and a sporty roadster.

I did once hear of a bloke who fitted a tow bar to a three series just to keep cars away from the back in London Traffic
