A superb penultimate f1 race in store , or , maybe not !!

Well , what a conclusion!!!! , this will rumble on for years to come I’m sure.
But for now F1 has a new champion, roll on 2022.
Let’s hope next year brings much closer racing with more teams able to compete up front.
Well done Max, 2021 world champion

Honestly all this whingeing over a guy that races like they used to in't tholden days....what do you guys want, a traffic light system saying wether they're allowed to make a move or not...? Teddy bears for comfort when they're passed...? Whinge machine Hammy was even crying about Perez FFS...! What a 42 carat Ponce...! Man the f**k up, either race or retire, but shut the moaning when someone passes with a hard manoeuvre...James Hunt for one wI'll be turning in his grave..!

John , you need to lay off that free beer  :poke:

Top man for taking the bet Slick.....and it's 100% your fault I'm pissed.... :drinking:

I am glad that Hamilton did not win an eighth title. An extremely fast car compared to the rest for 8 years is just too much. Most wins were easy. All I can say about Max is, that he stopped Hamilton winning an eighth title.

^^this^^ the Mercedes’ juggernaut has been stopped - David & Goliath

Be interesting to see if Russell is actually competitive next year, if so Hamilton will not be happy.

Drive of the day goes to Perez IMO, that wingman performance was epic!

AISI it's not about who won or how they drove, it's about being able to rely on the written rules - the teams sign up to the rules at the start of each season and they become, in effect, a contract between the team and the FIA.

If the Race Director can change/ignore the written rules whenever he/she wishes it means the teams have no standard reference and, potentially, the result of every race can be decided by the whim of the Race Director.

Although Crofty mentioned that there is pitlane gossip circulating that Perez's car was underfueled to make him faster so he could help MV and RB 'retired' his car because he would have run out of fuel - might explain why he was so puzzled about the retirement over the radio when he thought the car was running perfectly.

I wanted lewis to win even though I am not his biggest fan when hes not on the track, however I gladly would have accepted Max winning by fair means he is a great driver.
My feelings after the race are that the guys who were not racing dictated the result not the teams or the drivers.
It has tarnished my feelings of f1 and they have ruined races consistanly throughout the season which could have been one of the greatest.

I think everyone agrees the FIA have been awful this season, and terribly inconsistent. That said, it’s over now, no point blaming the ref. Hopefully it will get sorted for next year.

Looking forward (hopefully) for a years racing where we don’t know on race 1 who will win the season.

*** Mercedes have lodged their intention to appeal the decision of the stewards to dismiss the team's protest.

I don't hear anyone bleating about Ham not giving the place back on the first lap.... :poke:

How many want to watch the last race in a title decider finish under the safety car...? If Max hadn't come in for softs would Moaning Merc be still be moaning that all the cars hadn't passed...? Hmmmmmmm......think not..... Red Bull outsmarted Merc at the death, Ham could have pitted for softs too but they played it safe and got tripped up. Max worthy worthy champ.
Agree whole heartedly. Lewis got the benefit of the earlier decision but Toto is not complaining about that decision. Rules are rules but the race director made a decision and rightly in my opinion wanted the race to be decided in a race, no fizzle out behind a safety car. Lewis nearly held Max off and if he had it would have been great driving and he would have deserved his win. The race was lost by Mercedes not taking advantage of the safety car and changing tyres. Yes he would have come out behind Max but they should have had faith in Lewis to do the business and overtake Max, which I think he would have done. Max won it and the Mercedes as a team lost it

Interesting, I switched off before then. Even so, was a hell of a drive.

Mercedes need to let this go now. An appeal won’t make a jot of difference now.

Lewis was clearly the better driver on the day with a massive lead unlit latifi binned it. Then the F1 gods / Masi shone for Max and there was only going to be one winner on that last lap.

Yep, a more open competition will be warmly welcomed, it’s been missing for years

Perez the driver of the weekend. He got Max on pole also. Respect to Lewis though who after the race took the loss gracefully congratulating Max and the Red Bull Team.

If Perez was under fuelled it would be picked up by the stewards who weigh the cars before the race and do al sorts of tests on the cars after. Not even sure its against the rules but suspect it would be.

Hopefully we will have tighter rules next season and a new race director

A worthy cause mate...........

I think Latifi may get a few cases of Red Bull for his help; or more likely a private jet :D

I hope Bottas got his wages docked for this race. He was worse than useless.

Merc lodged intention to appeal. Can’t see them
Winning though, not because the cock up won’t be called out, but because Merc are effectively asking for the race to be shortened retrospectively, which isn’t appropriate. The only fair thing they can do is void the race, and Max wins anyway.
