To be honest a good seller should state its a cat d and your car is priced too high for a cat d. BUT its not law so people on here can judge but at the end of the day i bet 90% of people on here are not as honest and like to bully others. Lots of keyboard warriors. Theres a way to talk to people and explain. Stop pretending your all honest genuine nice decent people when most of you on here are a bunch of knobs really. Its a very scarcastic site but luckily there is nice decent people to.

To the seller when putting in your addvert you have been as honest as possible it does not help when you obviously have not as cat d is something a decent seller should state.

And before you all start on me i laugh in your face :)

Keyboard warriors? I think your post, and pretty much every other one of the 23 you have made in the 21 months you have been a member would say you need to look in the mirror and see the warrior in yourself..

This from someone who has posted less than 1.1 posts per month since joining, is quite frankly laughable

Chassis damage in the MOT history

I would break it...

Had potential to be repaired properly, but if the damage of the chassis hasn't been repaired and the repairer can't even be bothered to get the correct headlights, then I would prefer battery acid down my japs eye than entertain spending more than breaking money on it..

And metallic piss... just no....

Nailed it!

Lots of good info regarding Cat write offs here and have to agree its not a level playing field. In my time (20+ years involved in the trade) I've see 2 year old BMW's have £9K worth of repairs and not be a write off and at the opposite end a MX5 that needed a £150 repair to a rear wing be a written off. As others have said its all about value and nothing to do with the relative physical damage to a vehicle.

The real issue here before we got bogged down in the wider debate about Cat write offs is the OP's blatant deceit. I notice how he put it on Pistonheads and not trader, might have had a lot to do with trader automatically flagging up Cat write offs in its ads these day!

We have had all the arguments about write offs not being worth anything like as much and the morality of not declaring it. But there is one little known scenario that has not been mentioned. Its possible to buy a write off (not knowing) and insure it unwittingly as a straight car only to not get a payout if its bumped/written off (again) for not declaring as a Cat C/D it in the first place to the insurer. In this scenario not only have they got stung in the first place and paid over the odds they could loose the lot.

Personally I could never sell anyone a Cat C/D without telling them and I certainly don't understand anyone who does doing it from their house. You never know who you may be ripping off and what retribution may be coming your way!

This has been going on for years with insurance companies as far as I know.
A friend of a friend years and years ago had her car stolen and wrecked. It was recovered but very badly damaged.
When she went to claim her insurance she was informed that the car had been involved in an accident previously and therefor they would only pay out a lesser amount.
This was before Cat C, Cat D etc and she had no idea when she bought it that it had already had an insurance claim on it.

It has. A friend of mine got stung by this back in 1992. It's why it's always got to be worth a proper hpi check
