I only just noticed this today..... cheap as chips.
I was too slow.

Throw in £400 for bits to sort and it’s still cheap as chips... :o

A touch more than £400 required id say :? roof motor , wheel refurb , paint required on front bumper + don't forget the ins 2 (£700ish & rear tyres (£300ish ? )

Yeah, Probably around 2k all in, Andy.
Nice buy still though,as your spend total would still be around 10500,and you could probably get nearer to 14k for it in the summer time?
Nice few grand potential profit after some runout of it. Win win.
Cheap buy indeed

Did you miss the top down driving?

I don't ever drive the 997 & wish i could drop the roof but i do wake up at the weekend & sometimes think it would be a good to get out early , roof down for a good blatt :driving: guess little has changed for me over the last 7 years constantly alternating between roadster & coupe which is why the E89 is so appealing , pity they aren't very inspiring or involving once you hit the lanes

I am surprised you haven't updated your name to trader wilks based on the volime of cars and alloy wheels you shift

Nothing like envy to bring out the snide late comments is there :P :?
I haven't had a Z for 7 - 8 months & when was the last set of wheels i sold :?
Yes ive have a good number of Zs but as ive explained on other threads ( not that i need to ) the majority of forum cars purchased were ones that either struggled to find a buyer due to known issues or the seller simply wanted a quick easy sale .
A sleeping fox catches no poultry , perhaps you should get up sooner
This car will be enjoyed as all the others have , days out , drives out & weekends away :driving: time & money will be spent then when the time is right later this year off it goes in mint order for someone else to enjoy .
If id bought it to trade i would have kept my 997

I say fair play to you. You had the same opportunity to purchase as everyone else and a few could have got in before you but didn’t commit.

You were quick with the deposit presumably without even seeing the car . Early bird catches the worms 🐛

Enjoy your Z4M buddy

Thanks ,
Bought "blind" but not exactly "unknown" .
Its easy enough to trawl a users history.
I could see Peter was obviously getting many Pms with many questions , I simply pmd him & said if you want a deposit now, car collected within a week & no hassle txt me the bank details :)
Il be transferring my plate onto it this week & much like previous ZMs plan to add custom backboxes plus other "enhancements" along the way 8)

... at the very least its gone to a good home to someone who appreciates & knows how to look after it - am sure it’ll bring back many memories - enjoy fella

You communicate with the seller, discuss/negotiate, make your bid, come to an agreement, job done

Enjoy your new purchase :driving:

I had no interest in buying this. I do however think the car would have been better going to someone who actually planned on keeping it long term (years, not months)

They should have been quicker off the mark then. I was tempted and would have bought, but had just picked up an XFR. I would be doing the same as Andy though. At the end of the day, the seller is happy, the car lives and is going to a very good home where it will be improved and then at a later date somebody else will benefit from this.

So you suggest all car sales are vetted & approved by admin before they are passed off ?
Along with a great deal of time & effort in the detailing department the car ( as pointed out by the seller ) quite clearly needs work including ins2 , wheel refurb & the roof motor doesn't work :( not everyone looking for a ZM or any car for that matter wants either the hassle of doing the above or taking the risk that there isn't more required than highlighted .
I made the sale very easy for the seller , i didn't gazump anyone , i simply offered the guy what he had asked for & he accepted .
Your gripe is has no substance , the car was up for anyone else to do the same

I couldn't agree more, I did a similar thing last year. It was an Si which needed some paintwork, wheel refurb and a full service, it was for sale for anyone to buy for over a week. I kept looking at it as a project so I bought it had the work done and then sold it on. The guy that bought it has a pretty much mint Si with no spend.

I honestly commend you for ceizing opportunity and I am very much a capitalist myself. There is nothing unfair or untoward here, but I still find it a shame in this particular instance as another forum member who isnt in such a fortutious position as yourself has missed an opportunity to get a car they aspire to own.

In the same way you have benefitted from fellow members, maybe once you have had your enjoyment from it you will offer it to another member at what it owes you (your time included) instead of its market value, thus passing on the benefit to another member.

I feel if Andy’s in a ‘fortutious position’ it’s simply because he’s worked his happy sacks off to get where he is & what he’s able to do - seems this country always wants to knock those who do well.

Moreover, IMO this is the wrong car for anyone who can just about afford it - it needs proper cash ATM & if you can’t it will drain you & place you in unnecessary debt at a time of year people are struggling most.

I suggest it’s also worth remembering someone heavily benefitted from a car he previously sold at the wrong time a year ago, the only thing I heard was Andy wishing them good fortune, just like the seller of his new MR who may have had to give it to webuyanycar... I for one am pleased he has a reason to still be here in case I need to offload my car’s wheels if I have a change of heart

So your gripe is on behalf of someone else :? As for your socialist suggestion , , lets say i offer the car back up at what it owes me potentially under market value :? how would the next buyer be vetted so they didn't then sell it on at a higher price ?
Though if i did as you suggested & it was a success it could be rolled out across the whole " For Sale " section with parts , trim , wheels etc where everything bought & sold on forum is at the same rate , , , , be like utopia  that will work won't it

Sounds like a Jeremy Corbyn policy :headbang:

Seriously though, this thread has turned ridiculous.

Fair play to Mr Wilks - the car was available to EVERYONE on here to buy, and he bought it. Happy buyer and happy seller

What he does with it in the future, is no ones business but his own.

In all honesty of all the Zs ( maybe 5/6 in total ? ) i have sold to forum members id like to think each & every one was priced lower than the buyer could have found anything similar for in the open marketplace & at the same time would not have had any initial or looming spend on any upkeep / maintenance for quite some time .
There will always be "neggars" who see things differently , its life , just have to crack on

Whereas should I ever come to sell my MC, I’ll be looking to fleece the buyer for every red cent :fuelfire:

I’d happily buy a car that has been in the care of Mr Wilks. Missed out on his 997 by the looks of things :headbang:

You have mate but look out the window & you might see it some day :P it left Lancs around 3 hrs ago for a new life between Dumfries & Glasgow :|

I'd say fair play to mr wilks' If you see something you fancy you've just got to jump in and go for it like he did! You snooze, you lose. It was a similar situation when I got my MC, but I was the 1st person to contact the seller.

And as others have said it will be in far better condition once he has had some fun with it. Whoever didn't get onto it quick enough this time can buy it then.

I love the phrase ‘ a sleeping fox catches no poultry! ‘ now where did I hear that :D ? Fair play, happy seller and happy buyer, what’s not to like there
