18th Aug- Z4 Scots Borders/Northumberland (Kielder) Meet

Don't bother Bing..... leave it Dirty......... it will distract the others from looking at the detailing on my old Z :)

Sorry guys - just catching up - had a hectic few days selling my late dads house ( 50 years in the family). Craig do you still need the route ? Will send it once I get to a PC.

Looks like a great turn out.

Hi all,

Glad to confirm I have booked a table for lunch at Tomlinsons Cafe in Rothbury (It is likely to be busy but offers a wider selection than Kirkharle so that swayed our choice). They are very happy to have us visit.

We have arranged to confirm numbers and ETA to Café when we meet up at Hawick.

Steph and I will be at Hawick before the meet up time of 10.00 to 10.30am to meet and greet any others joining with us all there.

We have chosen a variety of roads which can offer an entertaining and enjoyable drive - all dependent upon traffic and weather of course.
ZermattV has put together an excellent outline of what's hoped for on the day. Steph and I are looking forward to leading our section which has offered us some memorable drives in the past.

Directions (for info)
From Hawick we will be taking the A698 NE towards Jedburgh for 2.2mls then turn right onto the A6088 to Bonchester Bridge and beyond to the Right turn onto to the B6357 to Kielder
At Saughtree turn left to Kielder (un-named road)
At Kielder, crossing the dam to Hawkshope Parking Area, we shall have a short comfort break and photo op
From there we head back across the dam and turn left to Bellingham where just before the village we take a right to Hexham on the B6320
At Chollerford we go straight on at the roundabout over the bridge and take first left to Rothbury on the A6079
We cross the A68 onto the B6342 to Rothbury
Left at the T junction onto the A696 to Otterburn
Right at Raylees to Elsdon on the B6341
Left into Elsdon Village around Village Green to Rothbury still on B6341
Into Rothbury over bridge and park in Riverside Car Park on right (50p an hour)

Walk over footbridge turn right to Tomlinson's Café at road bridge (approx 100 metres)

looking forward to meeting everyone,
Paul and Steph :driving:

Guys, I'm gonna meet you all at the start. Sadly though, I won't be able to do the run. Why? A few reasons:
1. New rear tyres not scrubbed in yet
2. I'm running 1 SE spring on the rear. 1 Sport. Hate it. Big mix up following MOT. Car is booked in to get lowered 25mm (that's 25mm on Sport height, 40mm on SE height) on Monday though :D
3. My sister is coming up for Edinburgh festival and I need to clear the spare room after the house move.

So, can someone email me the meet point?

Cheers

Adamski - responses in order, :D :(  :| PMd

Forgot it is now dark at this time in the AM

Road Trip starting in 15mins :driving:

Adamski- why not do the first leg with us you'd be home by 11 if turned back with a set of scrubbed tyres

Will be good to finally meet you Bing

Jem cheers for the email of the TomTom versions of the route on Sunday but I just realised my iPhone version of TomTom doesnt have an itinerary option on it & I cant download the file to my iPhone...whys technology so difficult sometimes! :headbang:

Looks like I will be driving 'blind' on Sunday so try not to lose me guys! :P

Im still going to be arriving at the old Brewers Fayre at Newhouse roundabout off the M8 to meet those passing by from Glasgow area. I should be there about 7am!

If no-one arrives by about half 7 Il just head from there to meet everyone at Dobbies Garden centre in Edinburgh.

Look forward to seeing everyone & their Z4's. :driving:

Would it be rude for me to bring my Z4 steering wheel & paddle shifts I plan on fitting for someone to explain to me how to wire them?

Phil

I think 7am is a little too early - can I suggest we have a very quick meet at Newhouse at 7.30 leaving 7.40 - that should leave plenty time to get to dobbies I think

Do bring steering wheel but doubt if any of us can help - very few have done that mod !

I gave in and cleaned the car

Phil - bring a long flat head screw driver and a wee spanner the right size to disconnect the battery. *If* we have time I could at least show you how to get the airbag off and you can have a look at the internals on mine. Need to be able to disconnect the battery for 30mins before messing about. If we don't have time then I can try to describe it to you.

The question is will you QD it again in the morning - arrived at hotel and debating whether to jump on a train to go into the centre tonight

Thanks Bing
Iv practised removal of airbag twice now. I think I can do all the fittings pretty comfortably I just wish I knew how the paddles connect in the steering wheel. I think I have the right connector identified for the actual gearbox to tap into. I might leave it & let everyone just enjoy the drive & BTW are we all going for lunch too?

Phil - having thought about it, we don't need to disconnect anything - there will be enough slack to pop the bag off and show you how the paddles connect. It'll not take long, we'll find 10mins.

ZermattV, if it hadn't been so long since I saw my Dad I'd come over :(

And no, I won't
