By the way, does this mean you're interested in tagging along, or are you just asking out of curiosity?

Wonder if a PMR counts as a phone and constitutes an offence if used while driving - doubt it?

ANY hand-held communication device can fall foul of the new laws. Although they could do you in the past, they've just made this a specific offence.
What gets my goat up, is the way they say it means you're not in full control of the vehicle if you're having to use a phone, however it's perfectly safe for the police drivers to use their radios and comms systems when they're driving. Exemptions you see - doesn't matter how well trained a member of the public is, they will never be as good as a police driver, although I've seen some really bad police driving from their 'trained' drivers.
BTW, I asked if having a conversation to a passenger was against the law, and when they said no, I pointed out that my passenger was deaf and I'd be using sign language![]()
