03-08 BMW Z4 HALO PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS FOR HID BLACK 04

hdo, thanks for posting the pics

I wasn't sure what to expect even after having seen these lights in the flesh but not fitted to a Z4. They actually look like a viable option if I get fed up waiting for clear headlights. My only decision would be black or silver...

Black: would match my seats (well, part of them...)

Silver: as that's what they'd replace.

I think silver TBH.

Edit: can you tell us what the beam pattern is like compared to the standard lights? That's my one outstanding concern given that these are aftermarket, i.e. the reflectors might be rubbish...

I do prefer the black ones to the chrome look though 8)

x2

The chrome ones are just a bit too chromey and shiney. But at the same time the black ones may be a little too black. Oh the indecision! Thanks indeed for the pics though!

Yea black looks better in my opinion. Where is the cheapest place to get these? Ive been wanting to get these for a while but have never seen them on the car

they look good 8)

defo worth while you posting those pics HDO :D

got xenons so no good for me ..... got to stick with 'tangos' :(

Don't think you can get much worse than OEM :P

if these would work with my Xenon's I would get a set. However If anyone with a face-lift front is buying these, you could sell me your standard headlights to offset the cost :D

I've just gotten home from holidays and installed the lights. There was a bit of playing around to get the lights to centre in the correct area of the bumper. I've only plugged in the cables which in turn provides hi/lo beams and indicators. There are 3 additional wires I will need to hardwire in tomorrow which will turn on the angel eyes and an optional LED light. Lights look 100% better than the preface lift lights and 100% in real life. Here are some photos in the meantime.

WOWWWW now THOSE look fantastic! I think I might have found my headlights replacement :P I'm having an awful time with my 2003 headlamps and all the oxidizing it has on the outside and inside.

Could you take pictures of the beam like facing a wall? From about 25ft? The only thing holding me back are crappy beam patterns....

Looks like there is a set on ebay they claim will work with our Xenon's. Not sure if they're the same but they look pretty close.

I can't see where the ad mentions xenon but rest assured they won't be compatible. The internal structure of a xenon is completly different using a different loom and for instance using a shutter to switch between dipped and high Vs switching bulb and filament.

I'm sure any of the non oem aftermarket HID kits would fit just as they do on any halogen.

This is not a good look at all IMO. Modding cars with non standard parts is always a bad idea, just doest look right! The standard headlights look much higher quality and also they have two spot lights which looks cool rather than one big light. Not good.

I disagree with you there - I think these look pretty good. I'm really not a fan of anything that screams out "AFTERMARKET" and don't think these fall into that category. I can't see what you mean by two spots vs one spot, as these do have the two spots (unless I'm missing something?).

Saying all that, I'm still undecided. I'd rather have OEM clear lensed units instead of these (or my original ambers) but if I continue to be unsuccessful in buying some then I'll consider these.

Agree - it'sd way too much of a generic 'all non standard parts are bad' comment and it's a reasonable way of updating the front on halogens to remove the amber inserts.

Personally I prefer OEM clear indicator and xenon, but that choice. These actually look pretty good fitted.

I share your concern that they aren't going to work except for a couple of somewhat promising signs.

They have list both HID & non-HID versions
HID http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290544556546
non HID http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290544556554
If you click on the View hyperlink in the Compatibility table, a note pops up that indicates they will work (or not work) with you factory HID system
In the main body of the listing the same text is repeated under a bullet titled Fitment it states the same

All in all though it still isn't enough for me to be the Guinea Pig for the group as I also see enough warning signs in the HID listing including the bit about It Comes With Own Standard Halogen Light Bulbs For Installation and I see no feedback on the vendor from anyone that has bought for a Z4. By the time you roll in shipping, duties & taxes, $500 is a bit much to chance.

Nice pics Zfour, I like your headlight better then mines. I have ordered the same as yours but changed it to the chrome ones the next day. It was hard to decide between the two.

The headlights that I have ordered were xenons (HID), it came with all the lights bulbs. I do agree that these are not as good as the OEM, but it was a lot easy than doing the conversion of the original lights. I did the conversion last year, it took me two days and in the end I was still not happy with the look of the AE.

So did you have the OEM xenons that you have now replaced with these?
