Wing mirror glass

Noticed my wing mirror glass was vibrating a lot this morning. Checked it closer this evening and it's actually coming away from the main fixture :o

Feeling rather lucky I noticed this before it fell off whilst driving!

Is there any way of reattaching it? Or do I have to buy a new part?

I know what you mean  Once you've spotted something, no matter how small, it bugs the hell out of you :x

Think i'll just try gluing it with some contact adhesive or something.

How you doing mate?

Not too bad here thanks :) Think I have a few bills coming my way soon though....

Reckon a bush or bearing on my front right wheel is sounding a little ropey! Needs a service soon too, oh and another years tax!

mine fell of just under 8 months ago and ordered new glass on internet site cheap as chips 12 quid compared to BMW crazy over100 quid price . it is held in place with double sided sticky and I have no issues since. so use that or a bit of silicon

Hot glue on heated mirrors... i think that may be a bad idea.

I used some extra strong glue / epoxy.

Theres 'hot' and there's 'heated' The hot glue stays flexible but very rigid. Standard glue sticks operate comfortably between -40°C to +80°C, Not a problem

Sounds like this is a pretty common issue then :o

Will get it sorted tomorrow :)

Oh yeah ! loose wing mirror glass :) you already have the 108,s & the stubby , just need some broken springs & you are fully affiliated to the Z club :P

All i know is i used it to hold the AEs and it melted so had to be removed and reset with better glue. The mirror glass prob wont get that hot though

Did a quick job with some double sided sticky number plate mounting pads in the end :)

Needed the car and couldn't wait for the glue to dry :P

Passenger side dropped out and smashed today when the missus got out of the car and slammed the door too hard *again*

*sigh*

It's left the black plastic part in, just the glass has dropped out. I've ordered a replacement from eBay (£10 job including the black plastic back part) - how easy is it to replace the whole mirror glass instead of glueing on just the glass part? I haven't looked but I presume you tilt the mirror as far as it will go and pull?

Cheers,

Tom
