Condensation in headlamps

Recently bought a z4 and ive just noticed that there is condensation in both of the headlamps but it is only in the lower part where the orange indicator is. Ive no pictures im afraid, but do you think it is a problem that will get worse and possibly spread to the rest of the light cluster or will it just be confined to the indicator part?

If this is the case I may leave it as it is not that noticeable and I would have thought its an expensive fix.

The headlight is just one single construction so it will get everywhere if the amount of water increases.

If it's minor it may just be due to the current low temps and may evporate off with use. If not you'll need to remove the rear covers dry them off with a hair dryer or similar and seat the covers properly. You may wish to buy new seals for a few ££'s.

Lots of threads on the subject if you seach

Thanks cj, some really useful info there, I havnt been able to have a good look around it yet in the daylight so im just trying to find these things out first then I can work on little niggly bits like that when I get home and its dark.

Its absolute torture not being able to drive it in this weather, I walk past it every morning and jump into my diesel golf estate to go to work

Really looking forward to this ice melting now :driving:

Thanks again

Should be cheap and easily rectified, although you may need to do this somewhere dry if you cant wait until the sun comes out. If CJ's raised temp trick doesn't work, check my thread here:

...and follow steps here:

1. Purchased new rear light cover (approx £10 from dealer - includes seals).
2. Waited until a hot day came along.
3. Took old rear light cover off and went for a hack.
4. Parked up - left her facing the sun for a couple of hours.
5. Fitted new rear cover to headlight.

Mine was pretty bad as you'll see from the pics, but now all clear and mist free. Good luck

Cheers Inkey, gonna wait for some warmer weather I think then maybe they will sort themselves.

If not Il follow your thread

when i picked my car up all the front lights were fogged up , dried them all out with a hairdryer from the back with the bulbs removed but the passenger head light had a pool in side so i drilled a small hole for the water to drain but now this is the only one which has fogged back up so ill dry it out again and seal up the hole see if this works :|
