Insurance notification if changing from runflats

More Than refused to insure me with non runflats. I changed to Admiral who, as was said before, don't care. I still made sure that I asked again at the time of insuring to get it confirmed on the recording of the policy setup.

    BMW UK useless.

Mongoose I think you misunderstood the post from AlanJ. Anyone can post in any thread (no matter what size their bonnet is!). What he meant was that it is usual to post in the Newbies section just by way of introduction. You will inevitably get asked for details and a photograph of your...

Is there ANY iPod interface that works with the CD changer?

Mine has an AUX IN socket which works independently of the CD changer. The disadvantage is that you cannot control the iPod through the stereo (I just put the iPod on shuffle) and that the AUX IN does not use the extra amp etc that the Carver system has (in the same way that the radio...

    whistling noise

There are loads of threads on here about what is known as a "ghost whistle". My 2003 3.0 whistles at fairly low revs and it seems that it is normal. There can be a whistle caused by a leak in one of the hoses (there will be an expert along in a minute to tell you which one!). I think if...

    Demist not working problem

I had this problem when I first had the Z4. There was no air making it to the windscreen vents. It turned out to be the pollen filter was almost completely blocked. I was a bit sceptical as I would have thought this would affect every part of the air con system but they changed it and the...

    Photoshop

I use a Mac along with Photoshop Elements (I use the Windows version running with Parallels to allow me to run Windows alongside the Mac operating system). Unless you intend to do some quite advanced Photoshopping then Elements should be enough I would think. It will allow you to enhance...

Newbie - retro fitted heated seats

I had heated seats retro fitted and they have switches like you describe. They are made by (I think) Waco who I am told are the people who supply BMW. I was able to choose where the switches went (I have them in the removable panel above where the normal switches would be). On the warm...

2.5 months on in the new business

Dario, have you thought of trying to hire cameras to private pilots? Quite often people take handheld video cameras flying but the results are never very good. Just a thought.

    wiper rocker switch

On my 3 Series without automatic wipers, the wipers slow to intermittent every time you stop. As soon as you start moving (well below 20 mph) they return to the continuous mode you have selected. My Z4 (with auto wipers) does the same when I have continuous wipers selected. I like the way...

    Metallic Rattle

Better than cheap. That's the only time I have seen anyone fix something and end up with 20p more than they started with!

    108 Project - Sneak Preview

Thanks Alan I had seen that thread. Now that I can see what the rim looks like split, I was trying to clarify whether you would put two beads of silicon (one each side of the flat part of the star or one bead of silicon spread over the whole area where they join.

    wiper rocker switch

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly but I'll have a try to answer. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Position zero = wipers off Position one = wipers on automatic. The rocker switch adjusts the sensitivity of the auto wipe (i.e. how much rain is required to...

    108 Project - Sneak Preview

Sorry to slightly hijack your thread CJ but this is the first time I have seen the 108s split. When you advise putting the silicon bead around, do you mean that you should put silicon all over the part where the star bolts on to keep the two parts separate?

    Run flats and Insurance company

I went through all this with MoreThan. They agreed that I could use them if BMW supplied a letter stating that they are an approved setup. Since they put non-runflats on 108s on the M I thought this would be easy. However, the answer from BMW customer service was that they get 20 requests...

Any way to join 108 sections?

Thank you for your replies. I knew that there must be some reason why you couldn't join the two pieces or someone would have done it already. I'm now back to deciding whether to refurbish my 108s (the best looking wheels by far) or to change the wheels and get rid of the corrosion issue forever.
