Z3 project...no going back now!

Looking great, very nice.

Out of interest, how do you insure it? You don't want a Z3 3.0 back if it gets stolen

It is insured as a specific model, not a Z3. It also has an agreed value which is slightly less than the build cost but any higher would have put the premium up a lot.
Part of the reason for the latest pictures are to send to the insurers for agreed value proof.

It looks absolutely stunning Andy. Your perseverance was well worthwhile.

I don't normally chip into congratulatory threads etc as I'm a miserable bastard but that looks absolutely spot on Mr P. Love the colour, love the detail in the work. I wouldn't know a real 250 from a bag of cheese so, if there are details that aren't accurate, it doesn't show because they all look proportionally just so. I suppose the roof mechanism is Z3 (I've read the thread but forgotten!) but it doesn't detract at all. You are allowed to be smug and proud in roughly equal measure! Brilliant job.

I want a Z4 in that colour now!

Me too, mate.

Nor would I really. I've never seen one in the flesh, as 99.9% haven't.
It was never supposed to be an authentic 'copy', as that is not possible. It is meant to look like a 250 (cos they are gorgeous IMO); the rest is just fluff.
It is a very strange car, this. People of all ages, from little kids to pensioners, shout in the street at it. It is a conversation point wherever it goes. Always in a good way. They don't know, or care, if it's genuine. People do seem to be drawn to it, probably because it is extremely unusual, looks quite period and not a typical 'look at me' type car.

I am getting used to the 'Ferris Bueller' comments, as that is where most people recognise it from. The cars in the film were fake aswell!

Yeah it is. Switch is inside the ashtray with the DSC off button. Electric roof (sort of as per Z3) but it looks shite with it up. The roof is only for emergencies. ;)

Emergencies. Or, as we say in Britain, weather ;)

I think it's because it looks just right. It's a stunning bit of design - it has an aesthetic, the sort of thing that you assume Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn drove down an Italian coatline in, in some film you can't remember the title of. One of my favourite silhouettes is the Triumph GT6 but the interior looks low rent. Yours has the lot though.

You know what? That is precisely the utopian thought I had when I first looked into doing this in 2016. I was going to download some Matt Munroe, Sinatra and Dean Martin songs and put them on a USB to listen to while me and the Mrs take a road trip down the Italian and French riviera. It won't happen but the car is real.

That looks absolutely tip top. You've done a cracking job there 👍🏻

Well Andy, I have run out of superlatives. I’m just repeating now what everyone else is saying. But it truly is superb and a great credit to you. What are you planning to do with it medium/long term?👍

I, too, am not one to bandy about superlatives or natural congratulation but this is a magnificent effort. I don’t know all Ferraris to the tee but this really does emulate a 250 (is it a California?) really really well. It’s the interior that separates it from the others. Well done!
