ZM to 35is

The remaining £400 then pays for an extra 25-100Nm of torque once over 1275rpm (exact figure depends on rpm & if over-boost conditions are met). It's worth noting the 35iS produces about the same torque at 5900 rpm as the 35i does at peek torque, around 2500rpm.
Hum... okay in the same gear at the same speed the 35iS will be accelerating 6-25% faster depending on the exact conditions. In 2nd gear the 35i hits peek acceleration at 23mph & from then on its rate of acceleration is dropping. The 35iS at 54mph is accelerating as hard as the 35i at 23mph & it has been accelerating faster than the 35i since 12mph. You'll see the same pattern in all gears but the speeds will be different.

Does that make any more sense or should I just shut up?

 probably just shut up :D as I said it really means nothing to me all I know is when I drove the 35i it went like a rocket and sounded superb and felt and went so much better than my 3.0si and that will do for me

I've been lucky even in my pedestrian 3.0

I think the 70mph speed limit can be broken in third gear???

Some interesting and valid points on this, much appreciated chaps. I can see both sides from Andya1 and Techathy, Andy's right that the 35i is ample imo but also Techathy's point on the adaptive suspension is something i'd rather have than outright performance as I just won't use all the power available in speed hence i'm mulling a 28i over and i can't realistically use the power in the M, you simply run out of road and anywhere near full throttle after 2nd gear is points or a ban or a cuddle with a tree as Ronk and Jimbo are saying, but then I really like as much low down torque as possible and the adaptive suspension would be great to have. Hmmm more thinking time needed. :headbang:

Hi Took mine out today with Mrs Bond, we really got to know the car better ... she is quick very quick

also My wife commented on that she thought it was more comfortable then the e85 z4m's we used to own. Just a small pic before I get some better shots next week

DCT box is ultra smooth, you could see it changing gears in the display, but could not feel the gear changes at all

Re the ride comfort it is softer in standard mode than a Z4 M ... as best I can remember from my Z4M . I found the sport setting made it feel very like the old Z4 M ... IMO obviously :)

It is quicker than my Z4M but I don't think it will handle as well as it feels heavier. The Z4M when you grabbed it by the scruff of it's neck was awesome.

it was just a little blip

very torquey at very low revs .. just seems so effortless through the gears

Your warming to the car I think!
I somehow don't think we will se it being sold to the highest bidder very soon!

yes you are correct

in the sport mode after a few secs from pressing the button, its just like a Z4M

The e89 35IS is exactly what I need for my driving style .. a powerful GT cruiser

I don't have the driving skills to track a car let alone to push a Z4M to the limits !

You can still get its arse out in the corners even in comfort mode. A car for all drivers :-)

You are near the channel ports?
Get yourself across to Germany and have cruise in the Autobahn, then you'll see what the car is all about.

You will want to keep it forever
