Zedward - A Thank you from Lauren's Mum

Well done John-E89, Sgreen & Markeg. - Great efforts over the last two weeks or so

I had an e-mail reply from Laurens Mum lastnight updating me on her condition. I'm sure she won't mind me sharing it with you all :

Lauren has been in hospital since 26 September as unfortunately her nutrition using her NJ was not going well and she was losing too much weight, became dehydrated and her bloods were showing quite serious mineral deficiency. She is now receiving nutrition via a central line and is looking and feeling much better.

Yesterday we were transferred to great ormond street hospital for the tests on her bowel. First one is tomorrow and then the second is on 19th - 21st october but we will be staying in between. Once the second test is done the results will be reviewed and discussed by both the consultant here and the local consultant and a plan will be made. Unfortunately Lauren will be unable to be discharged quickly from hospital whilst receiving central line feeding, so the likelyhood is we will be transferred back locally after 21st.

A difficult time, but I know we will get there. As part of the test tomorrow, Lauren will have to eat a test meal with the manometry in place. She is very excited at the thought of being allowed to choose something. It won’t settle well and there will be quite nasty processions from her eating, but she knows it is an essential part of this test to work out what is happening within the nerves and muscles. I think she has finally settled on a bakery croissant (she has been quite specific) and if she has to have anything more savoury, a sausage roll (also a bakery one!).

I'm not sure if you saw the latest update on https://www.gofundme.com/laurenstummy

Whilst this was initially a summer thing, Zedward is still yet to come down South, so if we still have the enthusiasm to keep him going I know Lauren's family will appreciate it. As you can see, from the above, Lauren needs all the help she can get at the moment.

I've also heard a rumour that Zedward may be about to top all events and experiences he's had to date, with his next adventure...
Watch this space, but carry on the good work and PLEASE contact the current host and offer to take Zedward onwards if you can help.

He's currently in Lincolnshire with Markeg

Can we hear a recording of him playing the piano, John?

He only knows the Archers theme for some reason Paul, but yes I'll certainly send you a rolling repeat of his playing forthwith...

....no need to thank me, it's a pleasure...

Cheers chaps.

Nice to meet up with Markeg again at Sytners Nottingham today to return "Mr Big", I won't give the game away but Zedward is in for a treat.

Thanks for the car care tips Mark.

I had a good time having Zedward to stay, sorry the the pics and story were a bit lame, weather and other things hamper it a bit. Having said that the next instalment in his countrywide tour will make up for it.

All the very best Lauren, were all rooting for you. :D

Likewise, great to meet up again John

So, Zedward is now off on his magical mystery tour, so there won't be an update for a week or so. However, he was very eager to be off this morning, washed and dressed (he's even put some shorts on for this trip!!). We did have a quick stop-over on the way so he could say hello to some new mates, and he's promised to visit them when he's back.

Great pics John-E89 I cannot believe how hard you made him work, and to get him up on a roof when he's afraid of heirs I see just plain mean  . Are you sure that you should be posting these pics on a public site after all where was his harness and hard hat, HSE will have a field day but a colleague in such danger even if he is a bear!

Mark can't wait to see what he is upto now, how long will we have to wait

To Lauren and family we wish you all the best and fingers are crossed for good news.

Good to catch up on this thread again. Always a great read and a great cause. May be Zedward can finally make Lands End for a new years day jaunt.

I'm probably being a bit pedantic here Alan but my stint with Zedward was from Markeg in Lincolnshire to the Peak District in Derbyshire, then back to Lincolnshire again. Just noticed on the front page you've got Sharon, Mark and myself all from Lincolnshire whereas I'm from Derbyshire. As I say apologies if that's being too picky.

Yeah, John only wishes he was from Lincolnshire..... ;)

It'd save me a fortune in fuel with no hills Mark, I got 5 MPG more going to Lincoln that Saturday rather than heaving it up hill and down dale here... :P
