Z8 going to auction

Have you seen what's coming up on Piston heads action next? God its sexy and that V8!!!

https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/auction/17135427

Be interested to see what this makes. Guessing the reserve is set at £150k plus. Apparently PH auction lots haven't been doing too well recently.

Shame it has the wrong wheels and there are HUGE gaps in the service history.

I would be concerned with the 9.5 year gap.

I'm not sure if I'm making this up, but I have a memory that the Z8 wasn't well received at the time and BMW struggled to sell cars. They were sold at big discounts. It only feels like it's a recent thing where they have become highly valuable.

That is correct!

Rare and gorgeous to the eye. But not the drivers car it could have been. Hence one reason it has aged so well. I doubt anyone actually drives them, just garage art.

There was one at Bicester heritage last year, lovely looking thing
Maybe it never left. Last part of the PH auction advert:
You can also see this very car in person on the Auction stand at our Annual Service powered by Michelin on 10th August at Bicester Heritage. If you haven’t already, grab yourself a ticket!

The 9 year service history gap is a bit strange but then that's still well below 1k a year average. I couldn't see the number of owners.

Still a lovely car but always one for the American boulevards than English country lanes.

The red interior hurts the eyes

If it was good enough for 007 and all that

Tim.

There was another one at Bicester last week in the Readers Cars hangar and that had Alpina wheels too, but it wasn't an Alpina either!

A well used one-owner example turns up at the Black Swan Classic Car meet now and again, so at least one gets driven.

I think they look great but there would be so many other cars I'd love to own for the sort of money they fetch - still I don't need to make a choice as I don't have that kind of budget.

The alpina wheels are quite a sought after option for the Z8.
Alpina wheels belong ONLY on an Alpina. There is no debate; it is a fact. :)

Sorry fella keep forgetting how pedantic you are. Guessing my CSLs only belong on an M3 CSL too :zzzz:

It was there this month, and I stood next to an Ultima whilst watching it depart with as much grace as any car could possibly manage.

For me the Z8 is style and sophistication and class personified... but (1) style and sophistication and class are not necessarily top of my list when it comes to cars, and (like one or two others on here I suspect), I'm not about to spend anywhere near 20% of the value of a Z8 on a car, let alone 100% of one.
