whats even cooler if you guys are hitting 1385, you a set of lightweight seats away from VERY low 1300s!!! the seats are about 32 damn KG each!!!

I have (and had at the time of weighing) one carbon bucket in the car. That weighs 6kg ish plus a bit extra for runners and mounts.

Did you get your car done at centre gravity? I remember talking to Chris about another car and I'm sure it was yours from the description?
No not me. Very unlikely that those guys would get anything wrong with their scales etc, always heard great things about them.
Hmm not sure who it might have been then! But yes I they are excellent, great setup and knowledgeable guys

Interestingly. this months EVO (April!) covers differences in manufacturers claimed vs actual weights. Don't know if John Barker was reading this thread but he used a Z4MC as a case example. He says the DIN kerb weight is 1420kg which includes all the fluids and 90% full fuel. This is the one they quote in the mag although they point out how mostly the figure they measure is higher than claimed. The EU kerb weight is 1495kg which is the DIN plus 75kg for driver/luggage. This is the one declared for emissions testing.
The article talks about the new WLTP based figures for economy/emissions testing which attempts not only to expose Turbo engines achieving unrealistic results through managing to stay off boost but also exposes some manipulation around weight where when several "trim" options exist for a given model the one with the lowest weight (less options) and smaller tyre (less drag) would be used in the past for testing. Interesting read anyway.

Saw that too - very interesting, even though it was a short article and they ruined it with a picture of a smug German man in a LHD Z4M. They quoted 1379kg “dry kerb weight” (no fuel) and an estimated “dry shipping weight” (no fluids) of 1340kg.

Good little piece I thought.

Bump for those who don’t subscribe to Evo. The article is available online now: www.evo.co.uk/features/21040/what-is-kerb-weight-and-how-much-does-your-car-weigh

Anybody else get their M weighed recently? I just noticed that the article says that when a manufacturer quotes “dry weight” it doesn’t even include oil or battery acid, which renders it totally pointless/misleading for the consumer. :o

Update planning to take this tomorrow morning!!!

Don’t forget the helium in the tyres :D

LOL!!! ive been looking a ways to drop the figure alittle but i dont want to cheat... so the car is going with half a tank of fuel and the compressor in the trunk , lets see, ive gained weight in the engine but lost weight in quite a few significant areas!!

I was more than a little surprised last week when my son purchased a 2010 TTRS , it weighs less than a Z4M :o
i would have assumed with its proper seats , electronic front diff + quattro + 19s with 255 35 rubber x 4 & Audi not exactly known for weight saving that it would have outweighed the Z by some margin :? then again those stock backboxes , they weigh like a tank of fuel :P

I’m surprised at that, what did it weigh out of interest Andy?

1450 kg 400bhp ish ( its on rolling road tomorrow for exact number ) stage 2 mapped , Milltek exhaust  quite a potent machine & don't mind saying my head was turned & did scan the classifieds after he'd left  :D

Yes, I was expecting to be not a lot below 1450 at the time. BMW can we a bit odd with their quoted figures. For instance the e46m3 quoted weight by BMW includes 3/4 tank of fuel and driver, whilst when they quoted the weight for the CSL that was with no driver and half a tank or something, naughty imo.

Would you attribute the bulk of the drop to losing oe backboxes & fitting the Apec 8s ?

ok literally still here now car came in at 1438 with half a tank. so with aftermarket seats..... I'd dip under the 1400s ......

That's not bad at all with the blower etc on there!

I also love the Alpine. It's not cheap though and auto only sadly!

Still can't wait to drive one.

Wowsers. So something like 350-375bhp/tonne?

yeah not bad at all, and entirely possible to get into the low 1400, high 13s.... very possible, with a set of tillets i should imagine i'll be their, power to weight is bonkers really.... right up their even today. i didn't remove anything from the car what so ever!! This was at perry barr council site!! 20 quid if you want the print out . Would have liked alittle lower i was hoping for 1420 ( i guess i was dreaming) ... but its on par or slightly less than most of the stock roadies posted up , bar the engine work, the other weight saving bits have helped clearly.

actually ive had time to have some food and digest the numbers and 1438 is really respectable starting block considering the monumental performance..... my initial dissapointment feeling hasty. Im happy with that number but how accurate are these lorry scales???

Stand on it yourself and see what you weigh - will give you an idea of +/- if it registers you 20kg lighter than you are or vice versa.

No idea if that is scientific, just seemed to make sense....or to look less daft, sit in the car next time!
