Z4M to M135i thoughts ?

If this has proper damping on UK roads it's a guaranteed winner for BMW. Cracking package for the money. They even managed to make the 1-series front end look a little less nauseous with the M-sport treatment.

The M1series coupe is the only other real alternative I would consider to my zed. Having said that it just looks cheap next to it. Still I disagree with the above, I wouldnt buy the 1MCoupe purely because I dont think the residuals are worth it and all other BMW's are far too common IMO.

Stick with your zed and get a boring 1 series 5 door hatchback also or the suchlike?

Having said that, this looks tasty:

When the Olympics are over, the 6000 used bmws flooding the forecourts that have gone out to staff and athletes should make for a bargain or two!!

+1

Looks a lot of car for the money, and sounds good too.
The M Sport versions do somehow improve the look of the front end, still no looker but would certainly consider one.

Sounds nice.

But. Doesn't do it for me at all. Just a tubo-d up saloon/hatch. Don't see how that replaces the specialness of z4m - gorgeous sports car looks, LSD, and a famous NA screamer of an engine. Remember how much praise has been heaped on the S54 throughout it's life? 107bhp per litre naturally aspirated.

Think the 135M is going to be a great car, the sort that competes with an rs3/s3, R32, fast renaults etc, that market niche. For me the z4m sits in a different (not necessarily better) niche. "weekend/sports/track/occasion" niche- if you get what I'm trying to say??

I agree with a lot of this. I really like the M135i package from what I've seen so far, but it wouldn't tempt to buy one because for me it isn't "special" enough. Special being defined as rare, sports car, gorgeous looks, that engine etc etc. But if I could get one on the company car list to use during the week I'd snap it up.

1. Although you're not referrign to buying from a dealer, over here a lot of second hand dealer cars are what they call Ex-Demonstrators. This sounds alright but actually they're often used as courtesy cars when people have their own car serviced, so get abused.
I've had three ex-demo BMWs, no issues so far.

Although I bought the Z4MC new for less than they were selling second-hand ones :)
