Z4M & The Used Market

apparently a bloke from worcester, but then the dealer might have been telling porkies.

I think what is telling is that if a Porsche 997 is under 30k, our car value is quite buggered really.

The market has gone made and dropped but I do feel that prices will firm up. It's like houses - we've seen prices up here in Edinburgh fall, but now the buyers are slowly coming back, prices are firming. If you don't need to sell, you're not going to take low, low prices, you're just going to keep the car. Therefore supply is limited and price stabilizes, if the banks start lending on cars again. Basic supply and demand :D

So the moral of this thread is keep your Z4M as long as possible as it's such a great car :D :D

Still no link for these AMV8s on 08 plates for under £50k, thought that was too good to be true! ;)

Steve, you're right but it's best not to look at what they go for at the moment...it's almost worth keeping in the garage and buying something else as well, so much car for the cash and you just know when recovery comes Z4Ms will go the way of the Z3M - become a cult classic for which clean examples go for quite a bit of money considering their age.

Banks are definitely lending on cars as well despite the press... balloons are a bit lower at the moment tho :P

Second post from the top on this page for the link :)

Just paid my 400 road tax - ouch!

Some nice cars around for some nice money at the moment.

Trouble is it's never buying these cars that's the problem, it's sometimes the cost of ownership!

It drums into me for the performance per £ on my Z4, the running costs per year aren't that bad. Not much more than my JCW MINI!!

For instance, having the 3.0si I can get the insurance and the yearly road tax cheaper than the Z4M's road tax per year! (By the way, this is not a dig, just one of the reasons I personally didn't think the M was worth it for me at the time I bought my Z4. ).

Add on to that the more expensive servicing and fuel consumption, this could also be a factor (getting back to the point of the thread) that dictates the used price when people start pricing an M up these days.

You're being too fussy :D It's an AMV* for 42k!

08 means 2-3 years warranty left :D That's still a good buy but I see your £43k car and raise you a £40k one..

They start at £37k now...

You're insuring it and taxing it for less than £440? You must be old! :P

I am! But hey, 50 is the new 18! :P
Actually it comes out around £385 for tax and fully comp insurance a year!! (the ONLY advantage of getting older!!).

My motorbike costs more to insure than the Z4!! :?

Thats damn impressive LOL! :)

I'm 26 and mine is a grand...M cars though...when I had a 330 Sport (23) it only cost £520FC - which I thought was alright

That's close to what I paid for my new Z4M!

I personally don't think these prices will ever rise again, despite what some people might feel. It still seems odd though that Porsche 993 prices are so high...

sorry - only just got back to this thread. I can not post a link as it is not on a website. This is from an AM dealer contacting me direct, even though I have never contacted them before.

Where do these dealers get your details from I wonder as I seem to be on the hit list for trying to push cars at me.
